Trying the new v2.9.0 beta as I've been having HDMI issues when starting my system up. About 33% of the time I get a black screen or No Signal. I have to power cycle once or twice before I finally get video. On a side note - the MC-700 hates my SanDisk USB drives. I tried a 2GB (USB 2) and a 32GB (USB 3) one and it refused to recognize them. I ended up going another one I had from a different vendor (OCZ Diesel 4GB) and it finally updated using that one. Apparently the MC-700 is sensitive regarding what USB drive you use. All were FAT32 formatted. I've reported the following issues I discovered in v2.9.0: - Coax and Analog 1 can't be disabled. I could disable them in v2.8.7.
Also, is it possible to add a way to lower the volume knob brightness separately from the VFD? The volume knob brightness is too high for dark viewing environments, and unfortunately the dimming is directly tied to the VFD, which is already pretty dim. I've unfortunately had to dim the VFD as the volume knob brightness is almost obnoxious. Where did you find that firmware?

You're in trouble now... Lol I think Keith specifically said no reposting... I think you misinterpreted that post. He meant reposting the file somewhere - I'm only linking to his post. Unfortunately I'm still experiencing the HDMI lock on issue that I was having with v2.8.7. I did discover that I don't have power cycle anything. If I go in and out of the Menu HDMI will finally negotiate.

Finally received a replacement unit from Emotiva today, but the following new issues are here included:
1. Can not determine if the unit had the heat dissipator installed, all packaging was new (never opened). I was told I was getting a fixed unit. No evidence that unit was tested with the fix installed. 2. No new software installed still on 2.8.7. We were given the impression that fixed units will come with the new software.
what happen?

The new software you are referring to (2.9.0) is Beta. I can't imagine they would release a unit with Beta software, unless the purchaser actually insisted.

Ed Trust me, every unit was updated with the heat sink and repackaged. As for the code, 2.8.7 is the latest code. 2.9.0 is only a beta code and has not been officially released for production. Hope this helps clear things up. Lonnie

I have had audio dropouts before and after upgrading the firmware. I have to press the HDMI button to make the sound come back on. It is really annoying. Is there a fix in the works?

With all due respect, simply stating you are having audio drop outs does not give me enough information to do anything. Thus, I can't honestly say if there is s fix in the works or not. Please give us a call so we can get a lot more information about what gear you have, how its set up, what formats are running when you loose audio, etc. This will give me enough information to start looking into this properly. Thanks, Lonnie

Update: After 12hrs of continuous use on a replacement fixed MC-700 at high ambient temps of 85 F unit working ok. Calibrations done and I'm impress on how good it sounds! No audio dropouts nor HDMI switch problems, HDMI cables used goes from Costco, Monster, Roku4 provided. TV Samsung HDMI 1.4 Audio Calibration did a remarkable job. Software 2.8.7

Do you need CEC enabled to get ARC to work or can I just press the ARC button on the remote?

Update Friday April 7
1. After more of 30hrs of use on my fixed MC-700 still working ok but some sporadic audio dropouts on all sources were observed since yesterday. They are without any noise just the sound stops, being able to restart sound by selecting the source input again. Still using software 2.8.7 and as I say at the moment they are very and I mean very sporadic. Sometimes audio will return by itself in others cases a reselection of the source will get audio back.
I will update to software 2.9.0 this weekend I expect all problems to go away.

Update: Sorry to comunicate after days of perfect working audio dropouts started yesterday extremely few but today an audio glitch (like a whistle thru all channels) software 2.9.0 installed. I'm frustrated the MC-700 sounds great and this is my second unit to have problems, but this dropouts and glitches they really hurt. I'm contacting Emotiva after this weekend.
