You don't have to believe him, just do the math. If prices went up 40-50% that would be indicative of a typical dealer markup. Too easy. An XSP-1 pre price rise was $US900, plus $US150 for freight to Australia, that's $US1050. An XSP-1 currently is SA1,999 from my local retailer via the Australia Distributor (neither of which have stock BTW). So if I wanted to buy an XSP-1 I am no better off than I was buying direct, I can't listen to one and I'd have to wait for the next shipment, which would quite possibly take longer than the direct shipping from the always fabulous Emotiva customer service. The current exchange rate is $A0.75 to $US1.00. so $US1050 = $A1400. Comparing $1,999 with $1,400 shows a $599 mark up or 43%. Obviously shipping in bulk is going to save quite a bit on the single unit $US150 cost, so your 40% to 50% is easy to see. Cheers Gary I was thinking of the current US model, but overseas this is certainly the case. The math proves it.

Don't you love it when the people who directly benefit from higher prices tell you it is to YOUR benefit to pay the higher price?
I think I've heard that one before.
We all have to make our own decisions about the prices we pay for products. I make buying decisions that I believe are to my benefit, not the benefit of the manufacturer, importer, sales agent or dealer.
Emotiva can price their products any way they want - that is their decision. Whether I am willing to pay that price is up to me. Business is business going both ways. No offense intended or taken.

I agree with this statement. I also think that there are likely many many more people who are/were happy they got a deal on the sale (many of whom I suspect were trying Emotiva for the first time directly because of the sale) than those who were hurt that they missed the sale. I'd say most consumers at this point understand the nature of internet sellers and the opportunity to buy something on sale. You also have a group of people who are/were waiting for the next sale who may now spend their money elsewhere. I'd say if your sales are as good as you claim there was no reason to mess with your formula. But as an earlier poster said it's their ball and their game so they get to make the rules. Tough to say if as many people will be playing their game though after the rule change.

XMC-1 is $2,499.00 Dirac Live Full is $99.00 Free Shipping Better look at the new site, XMC-1 fully loaded including Atmos etc is $2,999.00 plus $99.00 if you'd like to have Dirac Full, I guess you missed it too! From the Emotiva site, "SPECIAL NOTE: The Atmos and DTS-X enhancement is considered to be an OPTIONAL upgrade for the XMC-1. Once the enhancement upgrade is available, the XMC-1 will be available in two versions – with or without the enhancement upgrade. The retail price of the XMC-1 WITHOUT Dolby Atmos and DTS-X will be $2499; the retail price of the XMC-1 WITH the Dolby Atmos and DTS-X enhancement factory installed and tested will be $2999."

That price is $2999.00 They are different products. Did you think it would be free ?

We'll see.

The optional XPA amplifier blades and Emersa line should show up soon in a perfect world, but who knows.

Emofest should be interesting. Everyone will be asking for verification of what is coming and when since there is so much contradictory info floating around.

This is cool ! A page from Schiit is what this is. They needed to do this and I applaud them for doing it. I want to see both them and us benefit from low prices all year around. There is no doubt they will need to raise prices in the future. Let's keep things in perspective. emotiva.com/an-important-message-about-pricing-from-dan-laufman/
