A 150 has 2channels but two separate amps are needed
> Is there any other amp which has 4channels around the same rating in one enclosure or > Is there any other amp which has 4channels around the same rating in one enclosure WITH one volume control for all 4channels
The setup is CD player > minidsp > 4channel power amp with volume control
OR
CD player > preamp > minidsp > 4channel power amp

You need a preamp, either PT-100 or perhaps a DC-1. Get the A-500 (you don't have to use the 5th channel).

Is there a particular reason you want to get another amplifier if you're using active speakers? Why not just get a stereo pre-amp and split the signal, or if going for surround, an HT Pre-Amp?

Active XO/EQ, got it. A-500 would be the best then, I agree.

Request some clarifications Is my understanding correct . 1) A500 go into standby mode when not in use and with no input signal ....say after 30min ? 2) A500 if its in standyby mode and a input signal arrives ....would startup and play 3)There are no input channel selection buttons. All channels are "on" and play all 6channels assuming all the loudspeakers are connected.

The A-500 does not has an auto on/off function. You'll need to have some sort of trigger that supplies 12v to turn it on/off - or the old fashioned way - get off yer butt and hit the on/off button. It also does not have volume controls. As mentioned above you'll need some sort of preamp to control volume.

Just to clarify . if plan to use A500 in stereo mode driving regular speakers (ie spkrs with pass xo inside) then i connect preamp output to 2channels of A500. Also how the does input LED lights in the front panel come on ? Is it auto detect a the input ie if i connect 2 inputs the corresponding LEDs would come on.? Thanks.

Connecting a TA100 to A500 . Can TA100 volume control make the main level outputs go up or down at the pre-amp output with no speakers connected to TA100 ? (from the Emotive website emotiva.com/resources/manuals/BASX_TA-100_User_Manual_v10.pdf ) 6. Main (line level) Outputs " However, you can connect these outputs to an external power amplifier, a headphone amplifier, or an extra power amplifier to run speakers in a second zone. The Volume on these outputs is controlled by the main Volume control and they are active whenever the speaker outputs are active (and they go off when you plug a set of headphones into the front panel. These outputs provide a standard level signal which is compatible with virtually all audio power amplifiers (or a line level input on a preamp or integrated amplifier)."

I think you need to take an Audio 101 class.

I think you need to take an Audio 101 class. Thanks. I wasn't trying to be a wise-ass with that remark but it seems you're asking very basic questions and have little or no knowledge of how basic components interact with each other. Whether you have internal amps like found in a receiver or integrated amps or components like a preamp/amp setup, its the preamp that controls volume - or should. While some amps may have volume controls (called gain on an amp) most do not. Preamps control the volume. You can also control volume in other ways - like within a computer - some CD/DVD/BRP have volume controls but they are not the norm. Here's a great place to get some info on how things are connected and what each of those components can do. rotel.com/stereo-101

I think i should have stated my question in a better way. I have hooked up pre-power amp combinations before.I understand that headphone when used cut off the spkr outputs.
