I'm sure that's what Dan has planned as one of the EmoFest surprises!.............NOT!!! And..... I hear Lonnie is auctioning off the 'XPR faceplate styled' clock. Right?? I actually spotted that clock last September on my visit to Franklin, TN and gave the off-hand remark that it might go missing before I left.

The Elephant in the room is going to be cost and convenience. Records are on the bottom of the heap convenience wise, and costs quickly escalate with care and maintenance of the table, your records and so on. The process for many is a catharsis in of itself for many. So it is not a bother. I had fun with that process myself for a bit. When I did analog, my shift was to tape. Why? It is allot easier to keep running. Clean the heads and pinch roller and life is good. Also and here is where the vinyl heads will get mad at me, well I am okay with that. The sound of a record will change as you get to the end of that record. Tracking error you know. Unavoidable this at least with a pivot arm anyway. Air bearing linear tracking maybe not an issue, but again your costs to get into one is an ouch. Analog is far more expensive than Digital will ever be given the basic process. Music is on your phone or tablet like I am typing on. But you can go haywire with that too if you want. You know $500,000 DACS and so on. Analog is the elixir that binds us, and our music. Digital has to be converted to analog for us to hear it. Analog is analog through, and through, and no conversion is ever needed. As long you are RIAA golden, play vinyl all day. On tape you better be IEC compliant if you want to buy some of the awesome Masters at 15ips made today. NAB compliance is dead. My pro Otari, and Tascam would get along with either. So as time goes on, folks heavy into their music may not just play the high bit, and sample game Digital only, and want Analog in their arsenal of playback as well. A reminder, Aria electronics, and the restorer folks called ATR I believe of the mighty Ampex ATR-100 are gainfully employed, and plenty busy. Here in Nashville at Welcome to 1979 Studios, they employ restored custom MCI, and Studer, and Ampex ATR Reel to Reels. welcometo1979.com/ for more about them. Analog is going nowhere, don't let anyone ever tell you that. As long as you want it, and the artists that create their content want it, Studios like these folks and the Cash Cabin another recording studio in Hendersonville TN. are only too happy to help you. I realize I kind of went off record, but oh well its the weekend. Enjoy.
