Dan didn't feel the response in the lounge was good enough to warrant going into production. At least, that is how I recall it.

XMC-1L

If I remember correctly, Dan did a poll on this and there wasn't enough interest. To me, an XMC-1L built in-house would be more robust than the MC-700, which is why I thought the target customers would be there. What do I know!

It would have outsold the MC-700 with far fewer issues, and poss. even surpassed sales for the XMC-1. I think it should be the replacement for the XMC-1. Smaller form factor, no extra inputs that very few people seem to use, etc, etc.. Better yet, replace the 7.1 RCA analog output with 6 channels of XLR height and width channels and you now have a 14 channel processor. It won't have to cost $5K either.
Hmmm......another great idea that won't happen. C'est la vie

I liked it then and I like it now, extremely high quality sound from a processor at a price accessible to more people. As someone who already has a UMC-200, the MC-700 has no appeal, it simply doesn't appear on my radar. Processors are disposable, they have a life span and it's relatively short in comparison to the rest of the gear in my system. As a result it's hard to justify the cost of an XMC-1 over its lifespan. Yes, I know there are upgrades/updates but they are a long time coming and I could amost buy an complete brand new MC-700 for what they will cost me. The price gap between the MC-700 and what an XMC-1 (with updates) costs is huge, ~$600 to ~$3000, surely there is room in between? The gap where a processor can sit that is an upgrade/update for the huge number of UMC-200 owners, one that doesn't cost ~5 times what they paid for their UMC-200. Like many it's getting pretty close to 4K time for me and I will need to make a decision on a processor upgrade and that's where something like an XMC-1L would be a perfect choice.
Cheers Gary

Why this gravedigging? The result of the poll was clear then. I would have bought this but it wasn´t meant to be, so I got a XMC-1 instead.
At least this was a clear and well communicated decision by Emotiva, so please let us not restir any rumors or whatever.

Sometimes when reexamine old data you discover things that may have been overlooked. Today an XMC-1L could fill the gap between the MC-700 and XMC-1. Gas guzzlers were almost driven into extinction and have now made a hude rebound. Plenty of new muscle cars. So, sometimes and old idea IS/can be something NEW.

There has to be demand in this $900-1500 price range despite any previous lounge poll? (only a small sample of the market!!!) Sure would love a XMC-1, but $4000 here in Australia rules it out. The XMC-1L would be perfect.

All is not lost Yes certainly lose all those analog inputs [ or at least the 7.1 ins like the EMP1 does ]

When you build a product, it has to be more than a tweener. I agree with the no build XMC-1L. Your mileage may vary.

This 1L model looks interesting but I'm waiting for something else. Yamaha will introduce the next preamp processor next year. That's when I'll upgrade to a CX-A5100 - after the CX-A5200 comes up for sale there will be lots of A5100s on the auction block. The CX-A5000 does everything I want it to do and does it without drama. Audio quality is excellent. I may not even upgrade then.

Not sure what the specs were on this unit but sounds like I'm sorry missed the poll. I made the plung to 4k early in the 4th quarter of last year. I'm now seriously on the for a 4K processor with Atmos.. I looked at the mc700 but its just not enough of an upgrade over the umc200. Plus it doesn't have the new sound fields I need... I really like the Emotiva sound and hope they will produce a product that meets my needs in the sub $2k price point.

Similarly, I upgraded to a 4K TV last week and next month it will be Oppo 203 time. I've upgraded my Netflix and Stan subscriptions to 4K already. Spoke to Edward (from Adelaide Speakers) about suitable ceiling speakers and he has a new model that uses the same drivers as my rear side/speakers, so shouldn't sound too much different. In a couple of months all that will be missing is a processor capable of handling 4K and Atmos/DTSX. Emotiva are dragging the chain here Cheers Gary

Gary good choice with the OPPO. I bought both of my 203's as soon as they came out. They have always been great and now with the latest firmware update it's image is just remarkable. What's John Wick 2 father's day and couldn't believe how nice it look in 4k on a 140" screen. I just need a new pre/pro amp... And all will be right agin..
