I personally would not want any type of battery backup associated with my home theater gear.
Why? Fear is based in what electrical fact? Only emotion justified that conclusion - that wild speculation.
Output from a UPS is potentially problematic for motorized appliances. And perfectly idea for electronics. Otherwise fear also says what part is harmed. Honesty cites a datasheet spec number.
What happens when a cleanest 120 volt sine wave or the 'dirtiest' square wave is incoming? Electronics routinely filter it, convert it to DC, filter it again, and then convert it to well over 300 volts radio frequency spikes. Does not matter if cleanest sine wave or dirtiest square wave. Electronics remain at risk from the same well over 300 volt radio wave spikes.
And not a problem. Because superior filters, galvanic isolation, and regulation convert 'dirtiest' possible spikes into rock stable, low DC voltages that do not vary by even 0.2 volts. Do not vary even when AC voltage drops so much that incandescent bulbs dim to 40% intensity.
Stop looking for magic boxes. What is superior is already inside electronics.
Spikes and other tiny anomalies that create Monster failures are routinely make irrelevant by what is already inside all electronics. Did you first read specification numbers? No numbers defines the many who have no knowledge; and plenty of emotion.
Effective protection, that costs about $1 per protected appliance, means a protector remains functional for decades after multiple direct lightning strikes. Please learn from over 100 years of well proven science and experience. Ignore so many myths - especially any without spec numbers.
Foolish is a myth that a protector does protection by disconnecting. Again, where are the numbers. Anyone who says that is irresponsible. For example, a potentially destructive transient does its damage and terminated in microseconds. Anything that would disconnect takes millisecond, seconds or minutes. Conclusions change 180 degrees as soon as numbers are learned.
Or how does that millimeters 'disconnect' gap stop what three miles of sky cannot? At what point do numbers expose myths and lies?
Learn more numbers. Why would anyone assume central air causes any appliance damage? If it did, a first thing damaged is a closest item. That central air would destroy itself. Where is this air conditioner that creates 600 volt transients? Then you are replacing dimmer switches, clocks, dishwasher, refrigerator, and GFCIs every hour. Please learn that the many who invent mythical threats and emotional fears have no idea what the numbers are. Or what is really a threat. They only know what fiction and lies (also called advertising) have told them to fear. Ignore them.
Which ones should be ignored? Everyone that does not include numerous spec numbers with each recommendation. No numbers is a first indication of the naive or a scammer.
