I'm wondering how well the A-100 will play with Audeze and Mr Speakers headphones.
Here are the specs
LCD-2 70ohm Optimal 1-4W Max 15W (for 200ms) -- reasonable match LCD-XC 20ohm Optimal 1-4W Max 15W for 200ms -- maybe a bit scary and/or super low volume range MrSpeaker Ether 23 ohm (couldn't find the optimal/max power ratings) -- probably similar to the XC, 16W or so of power seems like a little too much on tap.

Just put the jumpers on in you A-100, and lower the volume as a start. it will handle any headphone, regardless of specs, period! Even w/o the jumpers on, the A-100 would do well with your headphones. I suggest using the dc-1 stealth as pre amp, wonderful combination.

I currently use an A-100 to power my Hifiman He-6. I connect it via a 4-pin XLR connector running off of the speaker taps. So it's the same output as the headphone jack with the jumpers installed. If you go with the LCD-XC or the Ether, you may want to start with the amp stock (without jumpers) and see how much play you have with the volume knob. If you find you are going to 2 o' clock or so with it during normal listening, then I would try with the jumpers in.

Is the new A-100 substantially different than the previous Mini-x A-100?
Maybe I'll have to pull from the speaker taps into the LCD-2 and see how it does.

I believe they had the same power ratings at 4 ohms and 8 ohms, but wasn't rated at the other various headphone impedance ratings as it didn't have the headphone jack. I think the main differences are the addition of the headphone jack and the unit having a much lower noise floor, being headphone use was in mind with its design.

That sums it up nicely. Headphone jack. Series resistors on headphone jack; which you can disable. Quieter circuitry. I believe they had the same power ratings at 4 ohms and 8 ohms, but wasn't rated at the other various headphone impedance ratings as it didn't have the headphone jack.
