HELP!!!! Out of room! Looking mainly for ideas of what others have done for CD storage. My current storage, which is now full (and soon will probably be for sale) houses about 2900 CDs and 100+ DVD/Blu-rays. (Also have a few SACD, DVD-A and Blu-ray audio (latter courtesy of deal w/ our own "boomzilla").) How do YOU store your media? And NO, I will not be streaming same to/via my computer as I Iike the having the physical media itself (either CD or LP). And like listening to the full/complete album vs, one song at a time. Yes, I am "old-fashioned" & like what I like, so streaming is unlikely. $$$$ also a factor. Will add pics later when i figure out how to downsize 'em. Also have ~ same # LPs in stored in my shed/barn. Ideas?

I use this: Amazon LinkThey also make wall mountable shelves that match. The one I linked holds about 1500 CDs. I am debating what to do when I out grow the unit, buy another or mount a wall mount unit above. Shelves are adjustable to house CD or DVD/Blu-ray. LPs are a different issue.

Or, just RIP all of your CDs onto a server, use Roon/Squeeze Server, toss all of the CD Cases/documentation, and put them in CD Books. I used some Case Logic books which hold 276 CDs. I looks like that one isn't available any more, but they have one which holds 336 ...

CD case made with poplar boards and old style Caselogic CD90 plastic cases. I must have the slots for my CD's. Harder to adjust and add, yes, but helps greatly with putting things back in proper order and knowing when something is missing. Unfortunately, due to my house space, I too am getting close to running out of room. DVD/Blu-ray made with poplar boards, 80/20 aluminum bars, stainless knurled bolts, and EPVC back.

Well, this is a great question. I have run out of room years ago. This is CD storage room #1. I also agree NO streaming for me I want the actual LP or CD. I can't get photo to post correct. But it is shelves I put up all around the room. I have three other rooms full of media as well.

I keep mine in some shelving units that are about 4' tall and 2.3-3' wide. But, I don't play the CD's anymore...ripped them all to FLAC and stream them. FYI, with streaming - you are NOT limited to just 1 track at a time. You can start an album playing and have it play right through...just RIP to FLAC and track order metedata is preserved. Do NOT rip to WAV. You can use JRiver to play them back and it's easy and high quality. Mark

For CD's computer playback is the space saving option. You don't sacrifice on quality. LP's is a different story.

I buy the media shelves that go on sale from time to time at Walmart, Kmart , target etc... for $10 to $15 I stopped buying red book CD's since I started using Tidal , but I still buy sa-cd, dvd-audio and Blu-ray audio if there 5.1 or if the stereo sa-cd is sonically superior to the red book

How do YOU store your media? After I rip the files to my server, the physical CDs get tossed into cardboard boxes in the garage as backups. I got rid of vinyl years ago and to paraphrase Keith Richards, wild horses couldn't drag me back to that mess.

Yes, while I do still have my CD's I bought years ago stored neatly it has been many years since I've bought any. Once I went digital server and built my HTPC music server there simply was no turning back.
