Not just the 40% off cards ; consider the 25% off as well "If you have purchased a qualifying product... that is if you are the ORIGINAL owner of ANY Emotiva processor or receiver we've ever built, you are in the UFL family. This goes all the way back to the DMC-1." It may be logical to segregate this aspect to other coming pre pros like the XMC2 as well as no one knows for sure how many are out there This. I would imagine they will see vastly greater quantities at 25% off than 40% off. I think most of the 40% cards are used up. But there are many of us with the 25% off UFL discount, and we can buy up to TWO of each processor/receiver with that discount. EDIT: But you also have to realize that they're not stupid, and they knew about the various discount programs they have operated in the past when they said $5K. They don't build in near the profit margin that other manufacturers do, but they're not dumb enough to price them at a loss. That is a good point. Also now that they are letting dealers resell they have to have more margin in their products (they sell to the dealer for far less than retail so the dealer can sell the units at retail). I would guess at a minimum that they would be selling the RMC-1 to dealers at 25% off ($4000) thus the same price as UFL members. All of this would have been taken into account when announcing pricing. FWIW: I think the main factor in Emotiva's prices going up basically across the board is the re seller model and being able to have enough margin at retail to sell to distributors and still make a profit. Also the USA production cost do and some cost (but one that is much easier for me personally to feel good about.)

Just spent my RMC-1 money on a few other items. I figure that I have plenty of time to save for one if I go in that direction. I sold my XMC-1 some 14 months ago hoping the new and improved update would be out soon. Here I am still enjoying my Yamaha RX A3020 from 2012. It passes 4K and does a very nice job for HT, haven’t a complaint in the world from it. The benefactor is my two channel system. Wow! Im thrilled and enjoying it lkie mad! Atmos will just have to wait.

Cheers I don’t think it has anything to do with the number of posts I have but in my overall speach on the forum. Emotiva has made me no promises and Ive not held them to any. I was hoping for their gear to hit market sooner, thats on me and not them. I’ve been saving for the RMC-1, thats no secret but have decided that for now I want to upgrade my two channel. A set of XPR-1’s can power a set of speakers rather nicely and the rest of the time so can a set of Bob Latino M-125 Monoblocks. With some of the recent difficulties some have had with the upgrade board and Im waiting for Atmos as well I assume fairly that I have time to save again for the RMC-1. No slight to anyone. Till then, enjoy the music! 🎵🎶🎶🎶

Feel free to list the amps if you are worried about having money tied up. Always people in the forum looking for XPA-2 and XPA-5 amps.

Brians ; if you don't sell the amps ;I would consider those and your speakers a great incentive to get a cheap pre pro in the interim [like the Marantz 7703 to substitute for the pio] Its far cheaper relatively than what it goes for downunder and the RMC1 can be considered when its gone through the inevitable beta test stages ; like its hdmi pcb is undertaking now .. I understand completely its the lost opportunity of enjoyment that rankles ; hindsight is a two edged sword and its much easier to take the view ; it comes when it gets here when you have a substitute

I'm debating what to do. My old pre pro crapped out this weekend. Do I buy a Denon 4400 since they are being discounted and use that until this comes out, or just say screw it and buy the 8805 and suffer buyer's remorse? I thought this thing could make it, but I was expecting to replace it in March, and I can't live with just tv speakers anymore. Waiting wasn't as big of an issue before, but now I'm stuck!

I just picked up an open box AV8802a for about $1700 and it came in yesterday. The plan is that it is a stop gap till the RMC comes out. But so far after just one day I am amazed how much better it sounds than the SR7009 I replaced. I still have not done the Audyssey set up (I’m thinking it may be better this way actually) so I will have a better feel in a few days. But I feel at the price I could not go wrong. I can always sell it when the RMC comes out, or it’s very likely I keep it and save a few thousand dollars. My room is fairly small and I don’t think I’ll ever go past 7.2.4.

There is a Sherbourn SR-120 receiver on Ebay right now with no bids and opening bid of $200/Buy it now of $400. No Atmos but they sound great and it would probably get you by with a one piece package until the RMC-1 comes available. Plus for that price you could probably sell it and get your money back after you no longer have a purpose for it. Good power and very nice sound. Just wanted to offer up a nice alternative to investing big money while you wait.

If I were going for a well regarded atmos pre pro between the 8802 and the 8805 it would be the 8802 as you can still use an audyssey pro calibrated mic with the former not the later [at least in Aus ] rather than ordinary xt32 auto and of course run out prices exist.. Or that Sherbourne - don't let the watts/ch fool you ; its a umc200 + a upa 700 iirc in 1 chassis

Thanks for the ideas guys. The reason I am debating the 8805 is that I already have all the speakers and amps wired for 7.2.6. There isn't room in my place for 9.1.6, but I wanted Dirac as opposed to Audessey.

What do you guys think about Sherbourn PT7020A? There is one of these on ebay too? Preferable to the other Sherbourn receiver, or don't bother?

What do you guys think about Sherbourn PT7020A? There is one of these on ebay too? Preferable to the other Sherbourn receiver, or don't bother? The Sherbourn doesn’t meet any of your needs above what the HDMI 1.3 spec can provide. No Atmos/DTS-X and no 4K. If you’re looking for something that will meet your current needs, including Dirac, and be easy to resell once the RMC-1 is released, I would look no further than the NAD T 758 V3. This will give you everything you’re looking for while coming in at $300 below the cost of the Denon X4400 you’re also considering. HERE is a direct link to the T 758 V3 on Crutchfield’s website. Crutchfield offers a very generous 60 day return policy. To me, there’s no point in spending money on something that will not meet your needs and will be a difficult sell once you’re done with it. Hope this helps...

There isn't room in my place for 9.1.6, but I wanted Dirac as opposed to Audessey. Yeah once you commit to a 7.2.6 setup your options are limited. I think the RMC will be perfect for you, but can you wait 6+ months for it (I feel that’s about how far out we are on it, it may go on sale before that but it will have bugs for a bit so 6 months from now may be a good guess as to when it is up and solid)? If you can wait the time I would since you really want Dirac. I think if you got the 8805 you may always question if Dirac would be better (it is). If you need something now I would still strongly push for a AV8802 (find a used one on eBay or on a forum for maybe $1500). Use that till the RMC comes out. If you buy it around $1500 or so you would be able to sell it around the same price. That is my plan with the 8802 I bought (although I really like mine so far and I may not get the RMC anymore).

Hope this helps... The reasoning behind the Sherbourn was that it is a cheap fix until the RMC comes out. The buy it now price on the Sherbourn processor was $50 cheaper than the receiver which is why I asked about it. I can deal with 7.1 for a bit. Obviously I would prefer atmos, but don't want to get stuck with a receiver or processor that I can't sell later either and have to eat the cost. I do find it odd how some of these outdated processors still are trying to command such high resale values. The 4400 I could get for $900 vs the NAD. I like the NAD especially to have Dirac, but it strangely only has 3 hdmi inputs and would be $400 more for a temporary fix. Do you think someone would pay somewhat close to my new price for my used one? I just wish the RMC was here already. That would make this a lot easier.
