First I have always been more of a 2 channel guy than multi channel.I own a pair of definitive 9060 towers and I power them with a crown XLS 1002.This amp puts out 215 wpc into 8ohm and 350 wpc into 4ohm. I have always used AVR's for sound.Pioneer elites and currently I have been using a Marantz 1607 slim AVR.I really liked the sound but it always seemed the sound was either a little dry and/or uninspiring.I have never used separates until I purchased my crown amp with my marantz 1607. After reading about the pt-100 and seeing the positive reviews I decided to order.I received it in a few short days.Upon initial hook up and firing it up for the first time the only word I can think of is WOW! Music now sounds the way I have always wanted but never achieved with any AVR I've used... period! The details and fluidity are unlike any I have ever heard in my system.I also use an audio Technica LP-60 for records and the phono stage is top notch.Very clear and clean. Movies as well have seen a wonderful improvement as micro detail and Dynamics are coming through even better than I've achieved with an AVR with 2 channel.I recently watched all the star wars movies again and I am picking up details now in many, many scenes that I've NEVER head before and I've seen star wars more than most...lol.The bass as well is very much controlled, tight and smooth. I want to thank emotiva for a wonderful job on this pre amp and giving me an affordable way to have a stereo pre amp in my system without killing the finances..lol. I'll update once I get more listening in but as it is now I'm highly impressed.

great to hear your review of this preamp. it is the same preamp section used in the TA-100. I too am very impressed with its performance even though I have owned and used the XSP-1 and XMC-1 in my system. I bought the TA-100 as a low cost substitute until I get my RMC-1 and I am using it for all things stereo, movies and music and I am blown away at its performance considering its rock bottom price.

Thanks...as an update on my review I think for the first time I am actually enjoying CD's all the way through without me skipping tracks...lol.It sounds so good to me. I now truly believe I have been so used to an overly colored sound from AVR's for movies and especially music that hearing them now through the PT-100 has been an eye opener.

The TA100 is 75 watts. Sounds like 150 watts. Not user friendly on the controls for BASS-TREBLE-BALANCE trims. I finally figured it out. FM no comment I don't use that feature. I use CD output,AUX output for a Sony HAP Hi Res storer. I use BT for Tidal and Spotify from my phone and use the PHONO output for a table. It has MM and MC switch.
I also use a BasX 300 as a amp for a little more power, so I am using it as a preamp anly. But the power amp sounds
It sounds great

Chad Thank you...I've heard alot about anthem and I'd love to try a pre amp of there's but the cost in my opinion is crazy compared to what emotiva offers for a 2 channel guy like me.Tell me if you will how is the sound of anthem compared to emotiva via 2 channel that would justify the thousands of dollars more than say the pt-100?I'd really like your input. Thanks

Thanks I can't compare them directly is I didn't have the Anthem MRX310 when I owned the TA-100 and my system has to do both HT and 2ch, I would love to have the AVM-60 but for the price tag of it up here in Canada I could get a used XMC-1 for cheaper and I don't need the Atmos side of the AVM-60, the XMC-1 HDMI 1.4 would be fine for me as I'm still running a 5.2 setup. I did own the XMC-1 for a while but when we had our second child times were tough so I sold it, it was the best my room has ever sounded for both HT and 2ch, the XMC-1 and Dirac Full is outstanding SQ IMO. The PT-100 and TA-100 are the products I tell all my friends about. They perform exceptionally well, and they can grow with them as their needs and wants change. Most of my newer friends in the Medical profession can get anything they want, but I have turned them onto these products, and they are amazed at what is possible. Sometimes getting along together separately is better. Glad you are enjoying your PT-100 Josh.

IMHO the PT-100 is the best value in all of audio - bar none. It can be topped, but not by much and only for a LOT more money (like 10x the price). It's THAT good!

There are some amazing deals in audio. Emotiva holds the crown for the majority of them imo. For me they are UPA-2/(discontinued) XPA-1 gen 2 XPA-2 gen 2 Mini-x A-100 DC-1 Airmotiv 4,5, and 6. Honorary runner up XPA-1 L Every one of those offer fantastic value for money and outclass most everything in that price range.

Honorary runner up XPA-1 L Every one of those offer fantastic value for money and outclass most everything in that price range. I notice the pt-100 isn't on you list...why is that? Well I had a long reply typed up but then I lost it. So here goes! Part of it has to do with the kind of things I like. I like 2 channel purist gear. But not just that, I really like it when it's got something over the top, eccentric. For instance XPA-1 gen 2 - monoblock class A balanced with massive torroid. XPA-2 gen 2 - stereo amp that can be bridged to do 1000 watts! A-100 - a solid budget speaker amp which becomes an insanely good powerful completely over the top headphone amp for a ridiculous $230. DC-1: Dual mono dac with torroid which just happens to have separate dual headphone amps and separate analog resistor volume controls - for no real reason! Airmotiv 4 - a FOUR INCH SPEAKER with dual amps sounding way better than it has any right to. You get the idea. But the other thing is that it has to realy grab me. Make me want to go back and listen to it again. The PT-100 didn't grab me in that way. Probably because I'd already heard something that was better - the DC-1. It was so similar and close in tone to the excellent DC-1, that I was just reminded of what it didn't quite manage to do. Which is probably being unfair to it considering that it sounded pretty close to the DC-1 already! If I had to pinpoint it, and others feel free to disagree with me here, I felt the sound wasn't quite as gelled together from left to right compared to the DC-1 and there was a slight artificial tone to it compared to the DC-1. And that's about it. It didn't do anything bad. It sounded quite good imo. It held its own in a head to head with the Gungnir Multibit and the DC-1, which I definitely didn't expect it to. So it's good but not in the all time greats (for me). But having heard it, I can TOTALLY see lots of people like you and B'zilla loving the heck out of it. I know I would be writing a very different review if I never fell in love with my DC-1. I'll admit it's got me a bit blinded! Hope that made sense!
