More fun. I had the XMC unplugged for a couple weeks while I was putting the new system together. The last piece of the puzzle was the TV, and the price finally came down enough for me to jump on upgrading to 4K. I give up un the board upgrade and am trying to use the Oppo for video to the TV and audio to the XMC. ANYWAY, after I re-ran Dirac, my level trims within Dirac do not stay tweaked after I leave the menu. I don't like as much surround as Dirac does, and I can dial back the surrounds and backs 3db or so and that works, but if I eject a disc and put in another one, the levels go bock to 0 db. What am I doing wrong?

Trims are temporary on the XMC-1. You need to adjust Levels in the Setup->Speakers menu for permanent changes.

Though unrelated to your problem, get 4.1 if you have not done ✅ so yet.
4.1 is the most stable and (one of these last updates) solved an issue of SOME settings not remaining persistent.

As I said, the trims in Dirac will not stick. The only way to get to the Dirac trims is in setup.

When I go to Setup > Speakers > Dirac > Levels, the values I set will stick. If yours are not, I would try saving your settings, reset to defaults, turn off the XMC, then turn off the switch on the back for a minute. Start it back up and restore your settings and try the levels again.

Yes I also just checked since I am still on 4.0 and I also can´t find the update on the site anymore. Neither on the product page nor under support.

As I said, the trims in Dirac will not stick. The only way to get to the Dirac trims is in setup. We can't see your XMC-1 menu. There is a big difference between "trims" and "levels" on the XMC-1. Using "trims" implies you are in the wrong menu. Using the exact terminology helps us help you. When do the settings get lost? When you leave the menu? When you change inputs? I didn't save the 4.1 firmware file. Maybe someone else did and can get it to you. I'm sure Emotiva will send it to you fairly quickly if you email them. -tm

Using within Dirac implies I am in the setup menu. And semantics aside the other questions you asked were described in the original post.

Assuming your in the right place setting levels and not trims, have you tried resetting to defaults, powering down, turning off the switch on the back for a minute and then restarting?

If I have to do all that just for reducing the volume of the surrounds, this thing is going to the curb.

If I have to do all that just for reducing the volume of the surrounds, this thing is going to the curb. Don’t despair 😩....you are simply in the wrong place at this point. All the support you need is at Emotiva directly. They will be more than happy 😆 to straighten out your difficulties! Bill

If I have to do all that just for reducing the volume of the surrounds, this thing is going to the curb. It should be a one time thing. Like restarting a computer when it's acting up. And if you call Emotiva it will likely be the first thing they ask you to try.

Again, exactness and good attitude help when you want others to help. You gave two vague answers: "after I leave the menu" and "if I eject a disc and put in another one." -tm

I'll save you a trip, I plan to run the thing over with my truck before it goes in the trash. I couldn't inflict this thing on any one else.
