I'm thinking about "fancying up" a particular lamp cord on a custom lamp my nephew made me for Christmas. I currently cover the lamp cord with some black plastic corrugated wire organizing tubing. Better than just plain silver wire, but not great either. I have seen pictures here of folks making custom speaker wires and interconnects using some much nicer higher end looking wire sheaths or wire covers. My questions are: 1. Where is a good resource to find those products? 2. Knowing what I'm doing, is there any type of cover you would recommend over another, or something you would definitely avoid? Thanks ---- Bonzo Here is a picture of the lamp as it sat Christmas day.

Looks like a Chevy V8 crank, Cheers Gary Right on sir! With a hole drilled all the way up the center for the wire. I am currently making a totally custom "Bonzo Design" lamp shade that I will have to post when I'm done. Here's another picture with the old lamp's shade on it.

Sorry about the corn 🌽 humor.
Ironically, part of my business is Lamp Repair.
How about this....
Keeping the theme going; what about getting some nice metal braided fuel line with a large enough inside diameter to hold 14 gauge for the electric ⚡️?

That is one idea on the table. I'm just not sure how easy they will be to work with, but it's certainly an option to try. I tried doing something along those lines with some black air filters for the shade. Cost me almost $250 in filters. But in the end it was just to heavy looking, and too black. My wife was not thrilled with it either. Returned everything. My new idea will allow for some painting to match the lamp, painting for the shade itself to match the blue we have on the front wall, and introduce some stainless steel bolts and springs.

A mate of mine DIY's his own audio cables, he selects wire colours that match the surroundings, lamps shades, curtains furniture etc. Then his wife braids them, sorta like this; Automotive wiring tends to be boring even the race car stuff isn't all that pretty. We use some pretty colourful harness heat protection which is braided silicone. come in red, blue, black and yellow (make your power cables heat proof); Personally I'd probably go for the oil lines plumbing style with fittings, teflon, braided stainless with appropriately coloured alloy fittings at the crankshaft end. Maybe with a 90 degree fitting out of the crankshaft Cheers Gary

We know in this room we prefer a darker shade to a lighter one. We went through that about 5 years ago. So I knew I didn't want a white filter shade. So I looked into black. Got some really nice ones. Just to mock it up I taped 3 filters together and then hung it on the lamp. It was okay, but not great. And my wife just didn't dig it. Even premade they were going to be a lot of work to finish they way I wanted, so I decided it just wasn't right. I'll post some pics when I get second to get them off my phone.

Wow, this looks like a cool place. Tons of selection and lots of other cool things to look at. This is exactly the answer I was asking for. Thanks, this will be great for now and future stuff.
