Okay, I got them and yeah, I like them. I like them very much. Do I want the 1060? Hell yeah, but just not right now.
The balance in these is great. Detail is more than I expected. More fun to hear than my AKG K701. The AKG is about what is great, and what sucks about what you are hearing. I trust them there. The M560s are about digging the tunes and shutting off the B.S. I leave the covers off. Sounds better to me at least. Not night and day, but enough for me to notice.
Midrange is great with male and female voices fleshed out nicely. Guitars are a joy to hear too. Acoustic that is. Cat Stevens, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Dire Straights, Mozart, and Strauss, I am having a good time.
Bass is even and controlled, but not a bass monster so don't Beats me here. Highs have not made me mad with anything edgy or piercing as my AKGs could punish me with. Comfort is good, and I will change the Earpads and ramp up the comfort some more. Fit is between my vise like Blue Mic Mofi, and my airy easy fit AKGs. The quality fit and finish is above my expectations. Weight is heavier than my AKGs, like the Mofi but seems better distributed.
The most silly feature. A cable that is way too short. Easy fix. Since it is dual 3.5mm stereo TRS to single stereo TRS so getting a longer one hopefully is not too hard.
So with better ear cushions and longer cable, color me happy. The Emotiva BAS-X A100 like them too just fine. Source my Tascam DR-100 mk.3 for now. The computer and Big Ego coming up.
So 2 very good buys from Monoprice and Emotiva.

Supplement. Starting in the break in process. It will run on my SD recorder on a bunch of material while I am at work. Will do this for today and tomorrow to get started for the weekend. Rainy and wet weekend. Great excuse for more music listening. Ideally you want a bit of power to drive these even though portable devices may work, there isn't quite enough to bring the 560 alive. The Bas-x A100 in its stock no jumpers in place is plenty. I noted the 32 ohm rating vs. the lower impedance of the new 565 and the 1060. Now there is a closed back 1060 and a closed back 565. I like the choice the 560 gives you in that regard. Always more listening. More thoughts later on. I may try other amplifiers for these too later on.

For me the stock no jumpers is fine for very loud volume even. The direct drive offers a different type of sound and control.

Looking at buying a set of inexpensive closed back planars. Thinking of getting the Mpnoprice 1060C. My birthday is end of next week and my wife has been asking me what I want.
Thoughts?

I lose allot of volume range too. However like always, your mileage may vary.

I already tried the jumpers in place and until I get a set of cans that need that power, the jumpers stay in the box.

What I did was I used the volume control of the DC-1 and used the A-100 as a power amp. So I just set the A-100 to a set volume which would be my max I listen at. Then I just contorlled the volume from DC-1.

Great but I don't have a DC-1 but I get you.

The 1060 is a great way to go. I would have gone that way but budget and my experimentation with amplification in the future keep me with the 560 for now. Are the 1060 Audeze killers? Hifiman alternatives? I don't know. If I get the 560i Hifiman. Maybe. But I really want to maximize these headphones and my AKG 701. My next amp will be for the 701.

The Audioquest Nightowl Carbon are on sale now at $399. I know they are not planars, but they look cool........can’t make up my mind! 1060c or Nightowl?

Well Cawgijoe that is a fine pickle. I like Dills myself. At any rate yes, that is a tough choice there. This market of Headphones gets harder to chose with tempting choices all over. I couldn't make the call easily myself.

The M560s are in the Break in Marinade. I want to enjoy them this weekend. I will keep on breaking them in for a while. Nothing crazy like my AKGs though. So far so good.

I couldn't make the call easily myself. It is a very tough choice! Man, what to do? The Audioquests are $300 off and get great reviews. High quality. The M1060C is cheaper.......need to make a decision today.

I think I will go with the Audioquest. If I don’t like them, I can return and buy the Monoprice M1060C.
I looked at Hifiman, but I need closed back.

For closed back headphones if I had the money I would grab the Shure SRH1540, I own the SRH440 and for the bottom of the line they sound really good. Chad

I picked them up for $248 CAD and also was looking at the Massdrop HD6XX but decided to try the planars for something different, heck I still want the HD6XX but a buddy of mine has them so I can borrow them anytime I like. My only complaint of the HE400i is the cable, it's too stiff and a little on the short side even when sitting at my PC. Chad
