Anybody running their ATV through their 4K player and the running one cable to the 4K tv and the other to their Non compliant prepro/AVR.
This seems like a good solution until the XMC-1 gen 2 / RMC-1 Does it work? Is it convenient?
Any thoughts?

NOBODY is running their 4K ATV through an Oppo 4K player? NOBODY? Hi Nick, I am running my apple tv 4th gen to the HDMI input of my OPPO 203, than coaxial out from OPPO to my NAD M-12. The HDMI out from OPPO to the TV. From the M-12 the audio out to a tube amplifier, then to my RF-7III's. Very satisfied with the picture quality and sound. 2.0 setup only

NOBODY is running their 4K ATV through an Oppo 4K player? NOBODY? When I had the 203 on loan from my cousin I originally had it setup that way, but I ended up connecting the ATV4K directly to the TV that way I didn't have to turn on the 203. It worked OK, I just didn't want to put unnecessary hours on the 203 that didn't belong to me. No choice with Sony as it doesn't have HDMI input. Cheers Gary

The best picture I can obtain with my 4K ATV via my Yamaha 3020 is 4K/ 30fps and not 4K/60fps. Not bad for an AVR BUILT IN 2013. Some of the best money Ive ever spent! It uses the HQV Vida processor and is aloso the Last Yamaha Aventage with Burr-Brown DACs.

I run my Chromecast Ultra through my Oppo UDP-203. I have my 4K Roku and 4K DirecTV hooked up to my TV directly, and I send the optical out to my XMC-1. Works perfectly, but switching sources takes a little bit of remote control juggling.

After an easy setup on their web site you have one button switching.

I have a Harmony, but I hate it. Why would you hate one button operation? Which model do you own?

The buttons aren't logically laid out. I have a 650.

The buttons aren't logically laid out. I have a 650. Sorry you feel that way but they seem to work for me perfectly. prohram one button to 1) “Watch TV”, mine is set to power up my Yamaha and tv, so this one press of the button now controlls my cable box, AVR, and tv. All the functions of each piece of gear is now available to me for this purpose. 2) “Watch a Movie” another dedicated button. Powers up or switches inputs for my disc player to input video to my tv and sound to my AVR. also powers and controls AVR and disc player. ”More Activities”Name the function, mine is “Watch ATV” it: Powers up disc player as the ATV goes to the HDMI input of it. sets the player to HDMI input powers up AVR POWERS UP tv full functionality even programmed my tube amp to control it as well, Works for me, One remote Wish it worked for you my friend.

It doesn't work for me too, because I have to have CEC enabled for ARC to work. An example, if I want to switch from watching the ATV4K to watching the cable box (via the UMC-200) I can't just punch "Sleep" because that turns off the TV. If I turn the TV back on that turns the ATV4K back on. The only process that works is to have the ATV4K menu on the "Sleep" selection, change the TV input to the UMC-200, then punch the ATV4K remote hoping that it (or my clunky fingers) hasn't moved selections. Same with cable box and BD player, can't turn them off when their input is selected on the TV, otherwise off goes the TV. I can't wait much longer for 4K processor switching, then I won't need ARC and I can turn stinking CEC off. Cheers Gary

If I go from watch a movie with the disc player I push the “watch TV” button and everything switches over just fine. Its all in the programming of the remote. The only thing I cant control in my system without my Harmony is the manual preamp switch to select the source for my speakers.

gary Cook , I get your problem now. You need ARC for audio to the UMC-200 where as my disc player has a HDMI input AND my Yamaha WILL pass 4K video, though be it at 30 fps vs 60 fps. Through the Yamaha. ATV must therefore go directly to the tv because it no longer has optical out. They keep messing with our Schiit! 😢

I'd love to Nick, but I can't, I need ARC, so that means CEC has to stay on, until I have 4K switching in the processor, then I can turn CEC and ARC off. Cheers Gary

After an easy setup on their web site you have one button switching. I have a Harmony Elite. The worst model I have owned. Way too easy to touch something and have it switch to controling another device or start doing who knows what. It can also come up with a screen that says "saving changes" What changes!!! How about asking permissin before changing anything. I know, I know, it's operator error... For me an Emotiva "wired remote" could work. Is there a mirror device that would allow thr IR remot to work off axis? Guess I'm just frustrated and too old. Ann
