So far so good for me. The previous version was total sh** for me. Constant audio drops and needing to reboot every other day. Crosses fingers....

So how is the 5.6 firmware working for everyone so far?

Very little time to play but so far (knock on wood) no more problems losing sound at start-up or switching sources. I still have a lot of pops in all the speakers when the source switches modes, e.g. when the cable box flips from movie (5.1) to commercials (2.0) and back, or movie disc from menu (2.0) to movie (5.1/7.1). They seem more distracting and louder than they were but it may be I am simply focused more on listening for bugs. They are most obvious when switching from multichannel to stereo since the surrounds and rears have no more source content (no sound), just the pops as switching occurs. I only have a couple of HDMI sources live at the moment: the Oppo UDP-203 I set to HDMI 2, and the Comcast STB to HDMI 1.4.
I don't really "do" streaming (on my list) so have a limited system compared to others. Music streaming is via a SONOS Connect plumbed optically (better bass than via analog) so any glitches are solely on my network and not the XMC-1.
I was swamped during the whole picture banding issue; has that been completely resolved?
Onwards - Don

Like the other firmware releases, 5.6 fixed some issues and introduced some new ones (at least in my system). I'm not one of the lucky ones that has an XMC-1 that is rock solid. It was rock solid before the 4K board upgrade and the trip back home to get fixed....
All I can say is that if I had purchased this unit working like this, I would have returned it.
I will absolutely upgrade, at least to the XMC-2 to get a totally new piece of HW.

So how is the 5.6 firmware working for everyone so far? 4th day into the firmware change (for me) and no issues so far. Previous issues were audio lock when switching sources.

Did everyone see Keith's post about the 2.0/2.1 FW bug and forthcoming 5.7 update? emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/54989/xmc-firmware-v5-coming-soon@keithl : Whenever I play a disc or watch TV the XMC-1 routinely bounces between 2.0 and 5.1 as it switches from menus to movie or commercials to shows. If power is interrupted or I shut down when it is in 2.0 mode will that birck the unit? Do we need to force it into 5.1/7.1 mode at all times?

Actually, they’re talking about the “speaker” configuration, not the input mode. So, if you have your system setup as 5.1 or 7.1 (or anything in between), you should be fine. My system is setup for 7.1 and have done the power switch cold boot several times since installing 5.6 and have not had a problem.

I believe there may be other ways to invoke the 5.6 reflash problem, or that having one of your speakers set to a ‘surround’ setting (> 2 speakers), and one set to two channel will cause it. Mine XMC is back there now.

Actually, I had a 2.2 setup on Preset 2, only for Analog Input 1.
I changed it to a surround setup, haven't down-flashed yet.

Well if I'm not mistaken our XMC-1 is still on 5.4. At the moment the XMC-1 works okay for us (always full shut down after use) and either we got used to it's quirks or I was able to work around them with my Harmony Elite. I'll wait definitly wait for a few weeks before upgrading..

If i order audio gear and dont tell my wife i ordered it, the xmc-1 will scroll the tracking numbers across the screen non-stop until i do. Its a fatal bug....
