melm - the cable went from the C61K to the XMC-1. phenomenhan - is your XMC-1 running 5.1a? Wilbur, We received a brand new XMC-1 (with the new 2.0b board) this past weekend. The firmware is at 5.1 18/6/21. I do not see an 'a'. Does that mean it needs updating? Yes, you need to update to 5.1a

Yes, you need to update to 5.1a Thanks. I'm a born-again-newbie. Had to do some searching first. I assume this is it: emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/949779Thanks, -Nhan

Updating to 5.1a seems to work for now with DTV's chans 104, 5, 6. Currently, 106 does not have any programming, but the sound is breaking up here and there on the XMC-1. I'll have to do more testing later. But it seems switching from watching directv activity to watching a blu-ray activity (which right now requires me to switch inputs on the TV) with directv 4K channel still on (specifically 104 right now), and then switching back to Watch TV activity causes the video signal from the XMC to be black. I'll have to put all the HDMI cables back to the intended ones and routed all thru the XMC later and test some more, now that I am getting a picture with directv 4K.

phenomenhan - I now have all my sources connecting through the XMC-1, and nothing connecting to my TV (other than the XMC-1) (like it was before I dipped my toes into the 4K "water"). All is working well.

"We are currently in the process of getting a DirecTV 4k installation here at Emotiva... and hope to have all these issues resolved very soon." I really surprised you did not have a Directv 4k set up to test before releasing board.

Now I'm really confused. Tried the 4K channel 104 and it worked! Perhaps I haven't tried since software 5.1a was installed.. I also note the my 2016 LG OLED got an auto software update yesterday.
My LG reports it's getting 4K HLG, and the Emotiva OSD agrees. So what got fixed? The TV, or did 5.1a fix the issue. I should have tested after the 5.1a update on DTV, but Emotiva kept advising 5.1a was for PCs hooked to the XMC-1. But hell, it may have fixed DirecTV, and it certainly cleaned up display of DolbyVision and HDR discs.
Anybody got this figured out? Keith? Lonnie?
Thanks
Mel

Will the recently released 5.2 software do anything for these issues?

All is working well. That's great, Wilbur. I hope mine works, too. If not, I'll have to look into purchasing some new HDMI cables. BTW, are the ones you purchased from Amazon flexible enough to fit into your OLED if wall-mounted? Mine goes into the wall before coming out behind my OLED, so thinness/flexibility is paramount

Yep... according to the "official v3 HDMI board" thread, there seems to be a 5.2 "beta" (dated 6/29) out in the wild. Nothing "official" has been posted regarding it, nor a link to get it.

When I have time, I'm going to use my original "4k Certified Cable". I committed the mortal sin of testing - I changed 2 variables simultaneously, but I'm betting it'll work.

Looks like the xmc1 doesn't like the monoprice active HDMI cables in any combination. I'll have to get their passive thin gauge cables and see if they would work. Your 4k cables should work. I was using some old monoprice (pre 4k) high speed HDMI cables in the morning to test and they were able to work fine for the DirecTV 4k to xmc to oled combo.

I got the peppermint cables when wilburthegoose reported success with DirecTV 4k HDR. I can confirm that the C61 Genie Mini works through the XMC-1 with those cables, the XMC-1 passes 2160p HLG perfectly.

As a very new convert from DishTV to DirectDV (last Thursday) I will revive this thread. My experience so far with the V3 board has been good and seems to echo wilburthegoose. My chain is: DirecTV Genie 2 (HS17 server) -> 4K Genie Mini (C61K client) -> MP 8’ cable* -> XMC-1.3 HDMI 2 -> MP 4’cable* -> Sony XBR85X9005 -> ~12’ -> Me 🙋♂️ *Monoprice Ultra Slim Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable, 4K@60Hz, HDR, 18Gbps, 36AWG, YUV 4:4:4 My first 4K DirectTV experience was (mostly) excellent, I flipped to 4K channel 104 and an Eric Clapton concert was on (“Slowhand at 70”). The picture was exceptional, 5.1 sound as well, I believe the XMC-1 reported HLG, but don’t know if it was passed to my Sony. Though I enjoyed the experience, there was an occasional disruption when the screen would go black and audio would cease for 2-3 seconds, this continued through the concert and into the following program on Yellowstone, it probably happened 5-6 times during the roughly two hours. I’m inclined to think this is a DTV issue as I have seen some comments on other forums that imply this issue happens to other users, though it’s often described as an audio dropout. Update: A Lorde concert is on now and I got another ‘black screen dropout’, this time I looked at the XMC remote app while it happened and watched the display change from 2160P/60 to 2160P/24 to 1080i. This indicates to me the problem is likely DTV, but this source is new to me. At this point Lorde is talking a lot and I don’t think I can watch much more. 😮

Once more : wilburthegoose's cables allowed the XMC-1 to work perfectly with DirecTV 4K. Why the V3 board is so picky with the cables I have no idea but I can confirm that these cables are cheap and they get rid of the problem. TV gets HLG and 2160p. No issues. I ordered 8 peppermint cables and replaced every HDMI in my system with them.

It's probably a signal integrity issue. It could be that the new board has SI issues itself, or it could be that the old HDMI board ended up with a much lower bandwidth signal and so lower quality cables worked fine.
