I will PM audiobill if he wants to build one. I’ll eat crow if bluemeanies is right about audiobill’s SP14, no problem with saying outloud that I was wrong about the VTA.

If audiobill can build one hum-free i will be definitely interested in one. I heard he doesn't even hum while building gear to avoid ANY hum getting into the solders. Mark

I may be late jumping in here. The only one I've heard (and have) is the Candela. It's a beast of a pre and sounds amazing. The remote is junk, but I might solve that with a programmable down the line.

Thanks, jdubs - Neighbor is a "research thoroughly before purchase" type of guy (unlike me). He's narrowing down his choices. The Odyssey Candella and the Prima Luna Prologue are both still on his list. A Jolida model was, but then Jolida went out of business.

Jolida went out of business?
I was at a dealer Thursday who said they were going through new branding, something silly like Black Ice.
He was a Jolida dealer for a year or so. He has sold off his demos. He also carries Rogue Audio. He had picked up Jolida for the FX line of affordable gear.

correct - what was formerly Jolida is now "Black Ice." You'd have thought that the morons who bought it would have at least found value in the Jolida name, but no... So now a brand new "Black Ice," company, unencumbered by any of its predecessor's accomplishments enters a crowded market with no new technology, no history, no known circuit-design expertise, and no name recognition. Any bets on how this'll turn out?

A hidden slippery dangerous surface that you could crash and die on! These people haven’t any experience in the ice and snow? ,,,,,,,or audio for that matter? Perhaps some experience , but non in utilizing good will or the naming of a company. Just my opinion but the name alone sounds like a bad and dangerous investment. I wish them and their costumers luck!

I think the idea behind the "Black Ice" Moniker is TRANSPARENCY: It's there - but you don't KNOW it's there - A GOOD thing in Audio
- A BAD thing on which to drive a car at any speed (I learned this one the HARD way...)

^^^ That makes perfect sense but still seems like a dumb name for a tube company to me... Maybe if they made ICE amplifiers...
