Hi,
I don't know if this is stupid to ask or not, but I am considering selling my upgrade card that I got with the UMC1. With the upcoming new processor with a retail price of 4 999$, This card currently would have a 2 000$ value for anybody who wants to trade it.
Here is my question : what would constitute a "fair" value for such an item? 1200$ 1300$ ? 1500$ ?
My hypothesis is that because this card has no expiration date and was in fact valid for the XMC1, I would think that it will also be valid for the new processor.
I am curious to hear your thoughts on this.

My hypothesis is that because this card has no expiration date and was in fact valid for the XMC1, I would think that it will also be valid for the new processor. I am curious to hear your thoughts on this. It has been confirmed by Emotiva that the card will give 40% off of the $4999 price thus it has a $2000 value (actually the value is like $1950 or so since you won't get free shipping on the RMC when you use the card). As far as a sales price that is more up in the air. Before the RMC was announced the cards were selling for +/-$300-$350 on the $2500 XMC (some sold for more, some less), and now I have seen cards listed for anywhere from $500-$1000. Best I can tell the cards priced at $1000 have not really sold but that is just a function of the RMC not being actually for sale yet. IMO I would wait till the RMC is actually for sale and then ask maybe $1000 for it. Many people would think splitting the difference in the savings is a fair deal. In the end you should ask whatever you feel is a good value for you on it.

I would say $500.00 would be fair, as many of us here would be able to use the UFL discount.

Thanks for your reply, I guess getting 900 - 1000 $ would be nice for sure.
Lets say I sell it. What would be the best method to ship the card, other than meeting in person? My biggest fear is having a dispute with someone claiming the card was not in the box. When the card is gone, there is no way to get a replacement so you lose the card and the money.
Any idea how these transactions are done and how to prevent a false claim? Paypal protects the buyer, not the seller if I'm right, am I not?

PayPal can protect the seller, but you have to follow their directions on shipping etc. I would sell it and have it payed via PayPal and have signature required on the delivery. Also try to sell it to someone either on this forum or AVS etc who has a decent amount of post. I would not sell to the guy with 1 or 2 post. eBay is another good option. You do get hit with their 10% fee, but I find that I can sell things at a higher price on eBay and make up much of that 10% fee.

I would say $500.00 would be fair, as many of us here would be able to use the UFL discount. Here is a hard place to sell the cards for at a higher price since so many members here do have UFL. Of course it cost you nothing to post it for sale, so there is no harm at all at listing.

UFL $5,000 - 25% = $3,750 Card $5,000 - 40% = $3000 + cost of card $500 = $$3250 could not see the point in buying the card for more than $500, Ebay the best Place

So even if a card holder sold one to somebody for $1000. They’d have, $5,000 - 40% = $3,000. + $1,000. = $4,000. . Thats still NOT $5,000. For you it all makes perfect sense, even for me ha ha! But not everyone is an UFL member.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, I guess I'll try here first on the Emporium and see where it gets me. I agree with others who said it would be best to wait until the RMC is out...once the RMC is fully real and selling, it will be more valuable. Also consider that the upgraded, higher priced version of the XMC-1 is coming. Some will want it for that, some will want it for the RMC-1. Either way, it will be worth more once those are on the market. Mark

I paid $299 for the card I bought when I bought my XMC-1. I was curious and looking and saw the card for $1000 on eBay and was like maybe, but was to much so at least for me on impulse I did not pull the trigger. Had it been like $500 I would have bought it without thinking even if I was not sure I was going to buy the RMC-1 anytime soon or possibly never. Just my two cents and what I experienced and my past experiences.

I have a dumb question, when did or how did people receive those upgrade cards? Did Emotiva have them during a certain period of time when selling things? Just curious if I happened to get one with my XMC-1 and my bonehead lost it LOL
That is all.

The UMC-1 had some early exceptional issues, and Emotiva gave these our to some of us as an expression of gratitude. As an XMC-1 owner, if your bought it new, you may be eligible for "upgrade for life"...which is good for 25% off any future processor. Call Emotiva to see if you are in that group. Mark

Mark They were also used as a promotion to help sell off the remaining stock on the Pt-7030. I had one from the umc and the 7030.
