The UPA-1, some may remember those little mono amplifiers? I own five of these and they perform fine so far. No problem at all. However, given the rather short life of my UMC-200, I wonder if I have to fear a breakdown any time soon and time to sell, as long as they work, might have come after five year of use? I mean I see a lot of Parasound on Ebay, units that are 20-year-old and still work flawlessly. What can I expect from my UPA-1?

Time will tell.... hard for any of us to know the life span of the previous Gen. amps. But if I was to guess I think the older UPA and XPA amps were built pretty well. If they last 20 years they were sure a bargain at the prices you paid.

The UPA-1 new with a 5 year warranty was only $299 when I bought two of them back in 2011 so to resell them now I have seen them go for $150 to $225 which IMO if you still have them I would keep them, those amps were a steal at $299 and what would you get now ? heck I wish I never sold mine especially given they were my first amplifiers Chad

No experience with the upa-1 but I had to send for repair an xsp-1, xpr-1 and erc-2, all bought brand new. Knock on wood, my upa-2, airmotiv 5’s and xda-2 still kicking with no issues.

My XPA 5 Gen one, was purchased in early 2009. It is still solid, runs cool, a great product and value.

Yes, the UPA-1 were bargains and have all I need and want. Its is just that I am a little unsure regarding long term reliability given that the processor I have could not satisfy this requirement.
