I know you can get DD+ and now Atmos but ARC never supported TrueHD or DTSx to my knowledge. Plus no built in TV streaming service is using those last two due to BW. My response was to the question “what am I missing feeding the XMC-1 with TOSLink from my TV?”, no mention of ARC. By not going through the V3 board, and using optical instead (which is his ‘workaround’), he’s missing Dolby Digital +, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS HDMA, and DTS:X. Is that not correct? I tried ARC between my Samsung and XMC-1 and it didn't work. That's not entirely true. I spend a day going thru the manuals changing settings and googling, and got ARC to turn off The XMC-1 regularily, but it would never turn it on. I couldn't get the Audio Return Channel to work, no matter what I tried. Then one day I turned the system on and the AudioRC was working (even though I'd changed nothing). Then next time I powered up ARC was dead again and never came back (again, I did no changes). So there is the potential to get the Audio Return to work and when I have time I will try to discover the secret to it. But the Samsung switches HDMI instantly, and the XMC-1 is lethargic, so even if the XMC-1 switched perfectly for everything, I'd stick to the Samsung for speed. I'll continue to use the XMC-1 for its excellent audio. /b

I would however very much miss the excellent DTS HDMA soundtrack I’m listening to right now. Fortunately we can each choose our own compromise. As for ARC, it’s hit and miss, if you can get it to work it might improve your audio options.

And I'm constantly switching: Netflicks, to HTPC for the internet , to TV-over-the-air-antenna, to HTPC Amazon. My HT is also my computer browser so I keep returning to it. When I buy a Bluray player, I'll get one with dual HMDI outs, so one HDMI can take audio directly to the XMC-1. My original intent of the OP (other than venting) was that if someone else was having trouble with the XMC-1 HMDI switching, there are solutions. And I've learned a lot from the replies, that will improve my setup. /b

I think your opinion has been expressed in the Offical thread and is the right place for solutions, workarounds and discussions on the V3, if everyone starts a new thread the fixes are all over. JMO
