... i hardly play any dsd files from my usb stick. My collection of dsd discs that i do play frequently, i don't have any issues whatsoever with the latest firmware so yes, seriously.... i am very happy about that. The soft thump sound i experience with the only 2 dsd file songs that i have on usb is not a big enough issue for me to return it, so i can live with it. ... Sounds like you have some good candidate DSD files for Emotiva to play with and see if they can diagnose the problem ... Casey

Just watched Chronicles of Riddick on new LG C8 77" OLED 4K TV: OPPO203 2k ---> 4k (upconverted), SDR, rec709, 422, 12bit, DTS 5.1 MA/DTS:X Neural, 2hrs 15min: no sound abnormalities at all. No: clicks, chirps, blaaaah sounds. Still had all HDfury products in place, except for direct connection between RMC-1 and LG OLED ... i.e. no HDfury product between RMC-1 and LG C8 OLED TV. As you have a unique viewpoint with the vertex etc on the important dts playback so far TDifEQ could you possibly lose the edid stabilisers and compare a uhd disc with dts-x soundtrack for dropouts /edid locking ? Oh and any nascent dolby atmos dropouts

OK. Late this afternoon my wife and I will watch "Return to Me" DTS using 1.3 ... then 4k UHD Battleship DTS:X (sans wife)

After 1.3 my unit still wont identify and play the correct audio.. Switching tv channels does not always mmean I’ll have audio at all. Must change channels back and forth sometimes to get an audio lock. And still decoding audio may be wrong.
1.3 hasn’t changed anything that I can observe. 😢

Watched 2 movies on 1.3 with my ATV4K, both were Atmos. Noticed an issue changing inputs from my Oppo 203 to the Apple. Screen was flashing and was saying please wait on the RMC1 and my screen. Had to switch inputs to fix it.

I'm interested in hearing from experienced user's their opinion on how the RMC issues are progressing and if you had it to do over again, would you still purchase the RMC. I'm currently sitting on a 40% off card and have been waiting out the arrival, and then the fixing of issues, for 2+ years. I'm pretty happy with my Marantz for movie watching and all my music listening is done with my tube based system...therefore the question is, do I sell off the card and forget about the RMC or go ahead and pop for it or some future version? Thanks

RE: 1.3 The GOOD: 1. Everything I play via my Tivo Bolt Vox is stable and no dropouts. This includes Netflix and HBO GO . 2. DTS:X/DTS HD-MA - plays fine without any dropouts. The BAD (via a Samsung UBD-M7500 At 1080p/60 12 bit 48k/24, RGB 4:4:4 SDR through a DVDO DUO to a Panasonic PTAE-7000): 1. Netflix still has dropouts. 2. Amazon prime still has dropouts. About every 8-9 minutes with DD, and every 3-5 minutes with 2.0 pcm. The 2.0 pcm dropouts are very subtle - almost like a spek of dust on a record. You have to pay attention to hear them - I was watching the original Outer Limits as the source material. Also weirdly, the lip sync is "almost right" at a setting of either 0 msec or "perfect" at 140 msec (it was 80msec with ver 1.2). 3. Atmos dropouts about every 5 minutes (actually 5 min. 15 seconds). They are usually quite subtle but STILL present. I have tried configuring the Samsung at both HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 without any significant change. Conclusion:... Draw your own conclusions . Lee

HDfury devices removed.
Watched Return to Me DTS/DTS:NEURALX: OPPO 2K --->4k, 422, 24p, SDR, rec709, 12bits: no sound abnormalities. No: clicks, chirps or screeches. 01:55:00 (hrs:min:sec)
Watched Battleship DTS:X: OPPO 4k, 422, 24p, HDR, BT2020, 12bits: 1 chirp @ 01:02:15, 1/4 sec in length, no other abnormalities ... no: clicks or screeches. 02:11:00 (hrs:min:sec)
No EDID issues. Will watch Pacific Rim ATMOS tomorrow.
OPPO203 ---> RMC-1 ---> LG C8 OLED
---> HDfury 18GHz 6ft Cbls

I concur with Brucelee. Just got done watching Aquaman in ATMOS and dropouts every few minutes for about 0.5 seconds. Streaming through an NVIDIA Shield. Dropouts with Netflix and Amazon Prime streaming confirmed. Once again through the Shield. Cannot determine if the Shield is the culprit or the RMC1. Will try out DTS next and see. Menu system incredibly sluggish but livable. Sound quality improved over the XMC-1 in the mid range but have lost the warmth that the Burr Brown DACs had in the XMC-1.
Processor is doing an awesome job at rendering objects accurately and uncolored. Next firmware needs to address ATMOS and DSD. At this point we are 95% there. Firmware update crashed the unit on the startup screen twice and finally started without anything plugged into the back and all wall outlets unplugged. Working fine for now. When watching a movie, if you go to menu option and change speaker preset level drops audio back down to PCM 2.0. Restarting movie (and sometimes cycling through the inputs) resolves that issue.
Almost there guys, but until these last couple of loose ends are either resolved or workarounds implemented, this is not a finished product. Would be happy to bang on the unit some more to flesh out any other issues if needed.

One other possible bug. When connected to an IR repeater to control from front of house, no configuration of the IR blaster, Front panel in, etc all on or off works and as such in the end you have to point the physical remote at the unit to get it to function. Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks I too have a 40% card and have been waiting to get the RMC-1. I am 9.3.6 with the potential to add two additional ceiling speakers. The RMC-1 with one 4 channel expansion module would be perfect. Another option would be to stick with 9.3.6 and get the XMC-2 and use a MiniDSP unit for the subs.

Anyone else seeing this? XMC has exactly the same IR setup. I resorted to using the IR In on the back and disabling the Front IR In and IR Blaster. I found that any combination which included Front IR and/or Blaster was not 100% successful like what I'm suggesting. The BAFX Products IR extender is what I purchased and is very inexpensive. RF versions are also available.

I am running into an issue where I need to wait until the RMC1 has to completely finish booting up and past the startup screen before I can turn on my NVIDIA shield. Otherwise, it will cause the RMC1 to crash on startup. I can understand about the boot sequence, but to have to wait until the processor is fully booted and ready before you can even introduce another HDMI handshake....?? Any other Shield users dealing with this problem? This was not happening when I was running firmware 1.1.4.
Can someone else please confirm this or offer their workaround?
DTSHD also confirmed to be working and stable without any dropouts.

Probably have, but that HDMI setting is tucked away in there. I went hunting for it, and found it, but haven't had the need to use it so far.

Probably have, but that HDMI setting is tucked away in there. I went hunting for it, and found it, but haven't had the need to use it so far. CEC is turned off and HDMI 1.4 cannot be used if you want to listen in ATMOS. The only other option I can think of is to factory reset the unit and reinstall the firmware again. I don’t think this will make a difference but at least worth a try. I will put a call into tech support tomorrow to report the problem and see what they have to say. I know that HDMI 2.0 introduced this issue for a lot of folks across different platforms, but had never heard of needing to wait this long to introduce another signal. The challenge with the Shield is that there is no on/off button to activate with a remote; hence no way to delay the power up process.

Has anyone had any luck using an app to control the RMC-1? Specifically I need to be able to control zone 2 remotely. Zone 2 is my patio/pool speakers and I run Spotify from my phone and right now I Spotify connect to my Marantz 8802A. I can control volume etc on the Marantz through my phone. The RMC won’t have Spotify connect, but I can still go Spotify-airplay-appleTV-rmc1. I just need an app to switch inputs for zone 2 and control the volume on the RMC-1.

The XMC Remote app from the Apple App Store works on my iPhone nicely on the RMC-1.

Love and miss you Chuck, thinking of you on this Easter Day! ❤️ Chuck built the PC App, not the iOS, but yes the iOS will let you select inputs and control volume on Zone 2 from your iPhone or iPad (I think there’s an Android too).
