Laugh all you want - I'm guessing that someone will buy it. Why?
It's McIntosh and collectable The value is likely to rise over time The serial number indicates that this is the FIRST made of this model It was McIntosh's flagship
10 years from now, someone will likely pay $120,000 for it. Besides, authorized McIntosh repair stations (Remember those? They're still around!) CAN still repair every part in the amp with either genuine McIntosh or else McIntosh-authorized parts. What other brand offers that level of support for their discontinued products?
And no, I'm not in the market for it myself - but I DO think it'll sell...

I don’t doubt it will sell and it will most likely be sold to a hard-core owner that only has all McIntosh gear. Furthermore that person will most likely not bat an eye at the sale price because $60k is an insignificant price to pay in the grand scheme of their financial well being. Personally taking out a second mortgage for mono blocks just isn’t feasible for people like me.

They look to be in excellent condition. There is demand for collectible classic electronics. I've recently become hooked on "Mr Carlson's Lab" on youtube. He restores old gear and makes really good videos. He recently did a McIntosh C29 preamp. >>> Link <<<

Oh I have no doubt they will sell ,I saw a brand new old stock Mc-275 that had been left on a shelf for 40 years sell for $15,000 on eBay a decade ago ,the owner wouldn't even open the box to take pics ,he had the box X rayed & posted the X Ray's ,I've got several MC pieces that have sky rocketed like the 1st MC preamp I owned ,the C-20 sitting In it's packing I paid $600 for ,or the Mc-60s I bought 3 for $1,100 total ,I'd be terrified to invest $60k into any 1 piece ,on the other hand allot of people think we're crazy for spending $3 grand on Emotiva so I guess it's different perspectives .

Personally taking out a second mortgage for mono blocks just isn’t feasible for people like me. I own a boat load of McIntosh gear but 90% of it's been bought used from a dealer friend of mine who refuses to have trade in gear on his showroom floor so I snatch it ,keep what I like & flip the rest ,the only MC gear I've felt comfortable buying brand new with full warranty has been a pair of sequence serial numbered Mc-252 amps, the 1st run of the MT-10 Turntable and my 1st C-2200 preamp and that's only because my dealer needed to move some gear to keep his premire dealer status & gave it to me at cost ,I scored my Mc-1201 monoblocks for $8k on Audiogon used,I just can't afford to spend $28,000 on a pair of amps ,both pair of XRT-22 line arrays I bought used for under $2k each and the XR-290s I got for $10k hand delivered to my door & is the most I've ever spent on 1 piece ,even my Emotiva XPR-1s my son now has I bought used .
