Competition is always a good thing. I look forward to the day these will be on firesale in 18 months after release just like other monoprice products.

I just read that the ATI-branded version is expected to cost $10K. It will have RS232 and more I/O, but OK.

But do you truly believe deep down in your heart that the RMC-2 will be out and running perfectly by then either? Only time will tell. Out, yes, since it's finished I'm guessing, and they just need to ramp up manufacturing. Perfect? Maybe. I think the RMC-1 should be pretty solid by then and I am guessing the RMC-2 has all of the same guts that are causing the RMC-1's issues, so it'll be solid as well. jmo. I think your definition of "solid" and my definition are on different pages. In my book, from everything I've read, Emotiva has never produced a solid processor. Not one of them, not even the XMC-1 is completely solid. It still has issues. Heck, its been over 6 months now and the HDMI V3 STILL isn't working properly for many, and it is most certainly not "solid." Not in my book anyway. I keep pulling for them to get it right, but alas, not so far.

I'm not really waiting per say, just observing and taking notes. I was waiting for the XMC-1 with Atmos, but gave up on that a long time ago. The V3 HDMI board crap has made me lose my confidence in that even if it does finally materialize. The RMC-2 is not my cup of tea. The RMC-1 MIGHT be IF, and only IF, they get the bugs worked out, AND they make an analog input/output module. I can't say I'm holding my breath. But I do have a 40% card just in case. I'm going to give it 6 months on the RMC-1 and see from there.

It looks to follow the trend of fewer analogue inputs/outputs Bonzo . Yep, and its completely unfortunate, for everyone, even if others don't see the writing on the wall. At some point we will all be stuck with the crap that is HDMI. Very unfortunate indeed. I would bet you are right, and that sucks too. No matter really, because it lacks too many other things for me.

There's no way they'll get "the bugs worked out" to your definition of solid, so that's not an IF and you know it.

You are probably right. 😎 While I don't really believe it will happen, I would still like to believe it could. I'm trying anyway. I do like a lot of their other products, hence part of the reason I'm still here.

I'm merely pointing out the obvious that you know will be true for you about the RMC's.

If something doesn't move well it goes to the clearance and overstock section. www.monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=clearance%2FoverstockLots of good bargains can be found here.

Monoprice is now a direct competitor to Emotiva in multichannel amps, all built by ATI.

Can’t imagine the author of that wasn’t familiar with the upcoming RMC-2 to at least mention that under another similar upcoming processor that has its price beat. Seems like a purposely omitted piece of info.

I've read no mention of XLR to RCA adapters, and that alone crosses it off my list of processors to consider! At least they’re not promising them and then changing their minds.
