I said keyCHAIN. It's a (*$&%( accessory, and even more so as you go up the "luxury ladder." You get one that works, and you swap it for one you like. That's an even worse comparison. A remote control is nothing like a key chain. Key chains themselves can be completely unnecessary. A remote control and a key FOB are necessary, at least in today's world. +1. I hear ya. I remember the first time I picked up an all aluminum Classe' remote and was like WOW, this thing is awesome. BUT, that was until I actually started using it. The buttons were squishy and the response time was horrible. Skipping tracks on their CD player took what seemed like ages. My Sony blew the actual performance away, even though the remote was plastic. But hey, I still have it, so even made out of plastic can be successful. I'm with you. If I can't find the volume buttons easily or it's slow to respond... that outweighs it being carved out of whatever exotic material you can name.

If it was hardware for them all I’d expect to get paid shipping back as a recall. But hopefully it’s just temporary software issues and returns are open for a while till Dirac is supported. Seeing how the Acurus is the next affordable comparison to the RMC-1 if you are thinking of buying something else like a Marantz what the hell did you buy the RMC-1 in the first place for? Sounds like you’re just too impatient to wait for the new Monoprice, XMC-2, or RMC-2 so I can see why there would be huge impatience on the software as well for the RMC-1. For those of you that are going to actually return and buy a comparable receiver such as the acurus or better I doubt we’ll hear as much complaining from them especially about paying a return shipping fee as their time is too valuable to waist publicly trying to shame Emotiva. Disappointment I’m sure but outright continued bad talking I doubt. Basically most RMC-1 buyers just have to be in for the ride or hold off on purchase. It’s even worse to hear from non owners as if you want someone else complaining who isn’t even dealing with the issues and they still sound like they are suffering through them with those that are. I have Dirac in my car and I think it's absolutely amazing. I really can't believe the difference it makes. So much so that I am thinking of getting a MiniDSP 2-channel setup for another car and actually installing the "home unit" under the dash in-line with the pre-amp output. Therefore, my shopping list is reduced to only those offering Dirac, I really can't wait to hear it at home. I wasn't cross-shopping a Marantz, I have a Denon AVP-A1HDCI that I am looking to replace that, hence the comparison to the Denon. The Denon AVP is probably the best performing pre-pro for 1080p/legacy audio (even this will start a war probably, but let's just say the SNR performance is in a category by itself).

That was a general statement I wasn’t trying to direct towards you. Just seems to be the two possible camps with the third unlikely camp that they will actually pony up the other 5k and buy an acurus. In which case we probably won’t hear as much from those people as to their disappointment in Emotiva as those who don’t even own the system. I’m aware that I can’t imagine having what the RMC-1 offers from the competing price points so I’ll report my issues and then be greatful when they get worked out and that I can afford a piece of gear capable of what it is. They know they have an issue and almost their entire line of processors need this fixed to move forward so I’m pretty sure identifying the issues is enough without the dramatic moans and groans filling up every RMC thread. Especially from non owners.

Build a product designed to last 5+ years, include a remote also designed to last 5+ years.

The point is, nobody buys a $5000 16-channel processor for the remote. It's like buying a $75,000 BMW and complaining about the keychain. Yeah but... BMWs come with extremely nice, functional and technologically advanced key fobs, as they should. .

Well, not to beat a dead horse, but I tried the zone2 setup recently and the zone 2 power button on the remote does not work without pressing it very firmly and at a certain angle. It's clearly defective. It was not dropped or mis-used, the remote is simply not right. You can see it from the image here, look at how that button is not seated properly and appears to be pressed. So, it didn't really make it the 5+ years... Attachments:
