All depends on how you initially view the company as a whole. This word is wrong here for me. Initially, years ago, I really loved everything I saw and heard. Eventually I started seeing and hearing things I didn't like so much. Now I've come to see things the way they really are, with no sugar coating. So I might correct your statement to say "all depends on how you, after coming to terms with how Emotiva works, view the company as a whole." I just watched the actual video, and am left doing nothing but shaking my head. How can he possibly say the RMC-1 is out and "doing very well?" It may be out and shipping now, but as of right now, this moment, it's not doing well at all. At this very moment, 1/10/19, it's a hunk of junk. There isn't anyone on the planet that would keep it right now in it's current state without real faith and hope that things will improve dramatically. I certainly hope it will improve dramatically. But this video shows a lot of the problem. His attitude towards his own products is almost, for lack of a better word right now, delusional. It seemingly takes him forever to catch on, and it's like he has his head buried in the sand to real problems. That's how I see it anyway.

RMC-2 was the placeholder engineering name for the project but since we are nearing the move towards production the official name that will come out on the product Casey guessed with RMC-1L.

Great news! People will stop complaining about the name! Until some fool suggests "RMC-1 Mini" would be better. DOH! I did it!

Trust me...someone won't like the name "RMC-1L" "wait for it..." LOL! Mark Ive always liked the moniker SE[ Special edition] ; Classy with a capital C Q.E.D. What they plan to call the RMC-1L should be called the RMC-1 (which fits what it originally was anyway...) and what they call the RMC-1 should be the RMC-1 SE...because it's "special" version of the other one with its expansion slots! And, if they make one above that, it should be the RMC-1 XSE...for "extra special edition" LOL! In all seriousness, the RMC-2/RMC-1L/whatever is likely to be a great seller for many who want awesome sound and don't need/want expansion slots. Mark

Actually, I can't take credit for making the first mention of that name (though I think I've probably mentioned it the most). Searching the board it appears that AudioHTIT has the earliest recorded use of the term "RMC-1L. Casey

What are they talking about with the ak board? Are the original RMC-1’s sold going to have obsolete internals soon? I thought ak boards were the DACs.

If what Dan said about the RMC-2/RMC-1L remains(the L/C/R/Subs only being fully differential balanced) and goes into production as such, my thought process on my next processor is now back up in the air. I don’t need fully balanced, but I want it, so now I’m back to either the fully balanced RMC-1 and the RMC-2/RMC-1L as described by Dan in the YouTube video below. Luckily I have lots of time before placing an order for one of these processors for features/specs/firmware to solidify.

Hhmmm, well, that sounds pretty plain. It doesn't sound like a rushed/stumbled mis-speaking. RMC-1L (formerly the "RMC-2") only has the Left, Center, Right, and Sub-woofer as Fully Differentially Balanced. And "the follow on products will all be Left, Right Differentially Balanced" seems to relate to the XMC-2? Casey

Hopefully the newer low priced Atmos pre pro he was suggesting would bring the costs down as well. Emersa?

What are they talking about with the ak board? Are the original RMC-1’s sold going to have obsolete internals soon? I thought ak boards were the DACs. Probably using the Asahi Kasei AK4493EQ which is the following on the AK4490EQ (and AK4490EN which is identical but in a QFN Package instead of the AK4490EQ's LQFP Package). The AK4493EQ has slightly better S/N and THD+N than the AK4490EQ (123dB and -113dB versus 120dB and -112dB), an additional filter (Low-dispersion Short Delay), and supports DSD512. Of course there's an infinitesimal chance that that Emotiva is considering using the Asahi Kasei AK4497EQ, but I significantly doubt that. The AK4493EQ is the follow on device to the AK4490EQ, and is simarly priced. The AK4497EQ is Asahi Kasei's "Flagship DAC" and wildly more expensive. Additionally, it offers almost no specification parameter which is significantly enough better than the AK4493EQ to justify the cost. S/N 128dB, THD+N -116dB, with the rest being the same as the AK4493EQ. Casey

That’s what I feared. Could this possibly be their answer to the issues the RMC-1 is currently having?

With regard to the various Audio dropouts, glitches, hash sounds, etc. I believe Lonnie when he says that they're working on Clock Management, etc. Casey
