Over the years, Technics has been known for making some really SOLID (but not quite "audiphile" grade stuff). Their Direct Drive Turntables were near-Legendary. Almost ANYTHING made by Matsushita Electric in Japan (Panasonic, Technics, and more recently Quasar) was usually simple, reliable, and well-Engineered.
Never seen or heard those, but they appear to be several steps above your typical "garden-variety" Mid-1970's speaker (bet that Disco played through them would get you "shakin' yer booty...") Acoustical response optimized for rooms with deep-pile shag carpeting (best if Harvest Gold or Pea Green) and walls covered with black-light posters...
Hook 'em up to a vintage Pioneer or Onkyo set and ROCK da' joint

Hi geeqner - They may actually be much better than that... Or not. Yeah - I know... I was just having a little "flashback" fun I think that the mid-70's were pretty much the epitome of the Vinyl years, and the stuff that was GOOD back then was REALLY good. (As always - there was also the "cheap crap", but that is definitely NOT what THOSE are; so I would tend to agree that their intent falls into the statement above) In the 1980's you had: - Consumer Electronics design philosophy was heavily going towards "glitz over function" (the more buttons / Graphic Equalizers / extra "junk", the better)
- Emergence of the CD
- Digital being used as a buzz-word when in many cases - the "high-end Analog" of the time was probably better in many cases

I'm scoping out foxes when this comes out of those puppies: m.youtube.com/watch?v=dwkwjOd7MCUOooh baby, somebody's going to get lucky tonight!😎 Thanks for the short trip down Memory Lane: I was a horn / bugle / brass guy (Actually played French Horn in Band / Orchestra / Drum & Bugle Corps) Saw Chuck Mangione perform around 1986 with a 5-piece small band at a club venue in Green Bay and still own several of his albums (Tarantella is my favorite of his with Dizzy Gillespie as musical guest) -OR- You could roll some Daft Punk through 'em = best of BOTH worlds: - That "Old-School" funky Disco beat from the 1970's that gets you movin' to the groove
- Modern "High-Test" Digital recording & mixing to REALLY make 'em sing!
IF the Speaker Cones / Surrounds AND the cross-over filter caps are still in good shape - I would bet that those puppies will produce a fairly nice, controlled sound. (As I stated in a previous post a few moons ago - I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I fired-up my old Zenith Allegro 3000 speakers from about 1980, [had been sitting in the Basement since about 2005] and these should be CONSIDERABLY better.) ("Get Lucky" tripped the trigger in my brain that made the association...)

Yeah, I've heard them Boom. My buddies dad used to own a pair. Very nice sounding speakers although to me the bass was a bit reserved if I remember correctly from thirty years ago. With a big fifteen inch woofer I guess I just expected more. They couldn't hang with my Infinity SM150 in the bass department but the bass was tight and accurate. Seems to me they measured very good and in a large room they could do a great job of filling it.
I owned the Technics SB-X500 and SB-X700 models from the vintage era and still have a pair of Technics SB-A34 in my garage although they are not hooked up to anything. I loved the SB-X700 as they had a great tweeter protection module to prevent clipping. They had beautiful aluminum honeycomb sculpted mids plus a very attractive tweeter. The woofer seemed like some kind of honeycomb foam but seemed like the foam edges were inverted, so i'm sure refoaming would have been an adventure.

I've heard them. I say pass. Very disappointing system in my opinion - as are most Japanese speakers from the 1970's and 80's.
