I see the Tidal app on my OPPO 103D and was wondering if you can still use it as I keep getting conflicting answers. I asked Tidal that question and they just went on about MQA. I have no way of playing MQA, just want to be able to turn on my OPPO and play Tidal. If I can play it through my OPPO is the up grade to HI-FI worth the extra money.
Thanks Frank

There used to be a limitation about using MQA on Tidal......
The Tidal software clients ON WINDOWS AND APPLE COMPUTERS support MQA in software (the software client itself does the important "first unfold").... And any specific hardware player, which supports MQA on its own, and can also stream Tidal, would probably do it (the Tidal client would pass the signal to the device to do the MQA decode).... However, the other Tidal clients on devices like phones, and Blu-Ray players, and TV sets did NOT support MQA....
I'm personally not a big fan of MQA.... I find that it often sounds slightly different... but isn't necessarily better...
However, if you consider it important, then you really should check whether a SPECIFIC DEVICE will support it before committing to it. (Either the specific Tidal app for that device must be able to decode it, or the device must do so, and the app must be able to pass it on to the device.)
As far as I know the Oppo itself does not support MQA.... Therefore, it would be a matter if they've upgraded the Tidal app FOR THE OPPO to do so.... (Each Tidal app is different - so you really need to ask about the specific Tidal app for the device you have.)

I have a 103, not a 103D and it plays Tidal but without MQA. You must use the OPPO Media Control app on a phone or pad and of course be on the same WiFI and connect the OPPO 103.

I used the Oppo media app to stream tidal on my 105 before I switched to tidal/Roon streaming via MacBook Pro to Oppo dac. If I remember correctly it played Hi-Fi but not Mqa and did not support gapless playback.
