Whats your Great Suggestion?
Should we take Lonnie up on his offer? Should we have it at your house?
Give it your best shot!

Either an Emofest-Lite or Beta-Emotiva-on-the-Road at HQ.
Must have A/V demo room, and separate 2-channel room. If these already exist at HQ and can handle a decent amount of people at a time, then all is good. Otherwise, forgot this idea.
Have the following happen at these locations: AV demo (movie stuff), and audio demos. Q&A session as part of an "extended pod-cast" talk by principals. All of this can be a beta run of what might be shown at the actual on-the-road Emofests, or other AV shows, so a good way to shake those down with friendly blue-coolaid folks ;-)
These demos/talks to be repeated every several hours with fresh blood of attendees - so people who come need to sign up for a slot, or take their chances.
While those are going on it might still be possible to bring small groups of people in to the facility for tours.
As far as food goes, to avoid having Emotiva footing the bill and not knowing how much to order (planning, etc.), get in touch with some of the better "high-end" food trucks in the Nashville area and get them to guarantee to park themselves at HQ for the duration. Gives lots of choices for the attendees, Emotiva doesn't have to deal with food vendors set up etc. Well, ok I guess there'll need to be tables/chairs set up. Hope for good weather ;-)
I guess there'll probably have to be porta-potties ;-)
Since there's plenty of music and movies going on, don't need no live band.
So, need those demo rooms or all this is toast.

Gonna miss Emofest terribly. I was a bit bummed about the news but it had to be a huge drain on them in many ways. I certainly hope they have the smaller events in Franklin that were mentioned.

...In addition to the ideas above, possibly use the idea of "candy-stripers" that hospitals use - volunteer labor. Could help with greeting, handing out schedules, giving info on events. Would be cool for all such volunteers (i.e., non-Emotiva employees) to wear blue-striped shirts as Emotiva candy-stripersHave an area where like-minded or geographically similar folks can meet - EmoSouth, Secret Monoblock society, etc. Some way to have little flags, 8.5x11 notices or whatever, to indicate each.Possibly have a "help desk" where attendees can come and ask questions. This could even be initially staffed by above candy-stripers (gotta be knowledgeable blue-coolaid people), with having an engineer on tap for deeper questions or validation.Could be just called "Open House".

I honestly have no wish to go to another audio show, they do absolutely nothing for me. The demos are a waste of time in that environment, there are often too many people to have any meaningful discussion, or it’s too noisy and it’s populated by salespersons who in general are devoid of technically meaningful information (not the case with Emotiva I’m sure). It also grates on me when I get continually told by people that don’t know me what I should like. Plus I’ve been to Chicago a few times but I’ve never been to Franklin and Emofest was an excuse to go there, as well as Nashville in general, Memphis and other attractions in Tennessee (eg; Jack Daniels). Enough complaining, maybe as an alternative to a “big bang” Emofest that they hold a few much lower key “open weekends”. Say 3 per year (yep, like Apple do Lonnie). Possibly with a “featured” product range at each, say, stereo at one, HT another, speakers and DACs etc. Of course have the other Emotiva products there, but feature the new and great stuff in that range. Maybe a sneak peak at stuff in development and some vintage stuff for the history. Keep it small, limit the numbers, don’t let it get too big so it takes up so much time and effort. There’s more than enough live entertainment in Nashville, so no need for that. I like the idea of a couple of mobile food vans and a few portaloos, not a lot of effort required there from staff. Email to Jessica on its way. Cheers Gary

Bummed about Emofest... I had some friends all lined up to go that had never been before, plus my daughter lives in Nashville. So on that note, please don’t give up on future Emofests, Dan!! We will certainly try to come to Chicago, but won’t have the same group that we’re planning on Emofest.

If y’all do roadshows, I would suggest a party of some sort at the end of the night. It’s always nice to socialize after all the geek talk of the day

What did I miss? Was there an announcement that Emofest is off this year?

Bummer...but, as it turned out, it was going to be unlikely I would make it this year anyway. My nephew graduates from high school this year and it's that weekend.

The REAL reason it got canceled is that somehow the top secret information about ME planning to attend this year got leaked. Since me showing up would most certainly put a downer on the party, with no one there wanting a relentless pooper of negativity, they took the legal way out and cancelled the event. The other option, snuffing me out, would have wound up being a long drawn out ordeal. Having so many eligible possible suspects there all at one time would have made it a year long Police investigative process, which they decided wasn't worth the hassle. 😉 🤣 😂

Maybe they decided their time was better spent with the engineers working to improve products already in customer hands, and get some things finished up and on sale that were talked about like they were imminent at the last one 18 months ago? If so, not a half-bad idea.
