This is my first post and want to thank all for having me. I've been a AV fan for about 35 plus years & love multichannel & 2 channel audio. I've concentrated my systems/efforts in multichannel audio/video. My system consists of a (5.2.2) Scenario: Denon AVR 3200, Sony 4K player, PS-4, Roku 4K, two subwoofers- Def. Tech. Supercube 6000's (1500 w. peak each), front Polk Monitor- 70's, center- Polk CS 245i, Atmos- Klipsch 140's, surround-Def. Tech. (not sure model but are very large). All speakers are 8 ohms and handle 200-250 watts each. I also have a 65 inch Sony XBR 850. Overall I've been happy with system and got a lot of great deals through E-bay, estate sales, Craig's List, & Amazon Prime, Bjorn's, & Best Buy. I have been thinking about an upgrade. My room dimensions are: 13' X 18' X 9', which is about 3100 cubic feet. I've been noticing when I really crank it up a brightness and lack of clarity. I have been considering Emotiva and reading amazing reviews for a couple of years. I considered the X series with 200 X 7 watts, but did not want to spend an additional $2K. I ended up purchasing the Emotiva basX A-700 for $599.00 on Prime with free shipping. I am now using my Denon AVR as a pre-amp. I've had the Amp one week now and am extremely pleased. This amp is built like tank, and sounds great. I was initially concerned of it's low wattage compared to the Denon AVR, but I bit the bullet and would never turn back. It's hard to articulate how much I love it, it sounds more open, taller, broader, more detailed, & more dynamic. It just sounds bigger and better! I think it has a lot greater current capability than most AVR's and really dishes it out. I listen & watch a lot of blue ray concerts and love how AC/DC, Queen, Rush, & the Rolling Stones rock with this amp. On video Saving Private Ryan is stellar, and almost took me back to Iraq! Scary! I am definitely an Emotiva fan and would recommend it to anyone who is wanting an upgrade. It's funny since I got this amp I have been revisiting old music cd's, dvd's, blue ray's, & you tube like a little kid with a new toy. Cheers!, Wolfebatio

You've experienced the classic reaction to improved quality audio...the desire to go back and relisten to old familiar music. And savoring the audio improvements.
Thanks for the review and welcome aboard!
Cheers!

I just wanted to post some thoughts on the A-700. I have had this amp for a while powering my Atmos speakers and some out door speakers. It did a fine job, but by the same token was not really asked to do much.
I sold my XPA-5 last week and as I wait for my XPA-9 to come in I decided to run my center, surround, and Atmos channels through the A-700 (keeping the L/R on my DR-2). I watched Logan in 4K Atmos last night and I was shocked on how well the A-700 kept up in this system. At fairly loud volumes I honestly could not hear any difference between this amp and my XPA-5. If there was a difference it sure was not super audible. I’m very impressed with the amp as I feel like it definitely punches above its weight and for the cost it is a great value.

wolfebatio, Congrats. Your reaction is as expected by us Emotiva amp owners, now you're hooked forever- you can't go back. I had the Denon AVR 5700 (140wpc stereo), a fabulous receiver.that lasted 17 years. It was delegated to office stereo only, after XPA-5, UMC200 purchase. The very best surround receivers today admit their power is only 60 wpc in surround. My plan for Atmos is the Basx A-500. my experience & positive reviews from users, have no doubt my satisfaction with Basx. With a high quality HT receiver, you may not hear much difference in stereo vs Basx outboard amplification, but surround- forget about it- night & day. With receivers mid-grade down, they"re not comparable to Basx.
So what's your next Emotiva purchase plan, A-300?

Curious why the A-700's on closeout. I have an A-300 for mains and A-700 for the rest of a 5.1.2 + second zone setup (off a Yamaha CX-A5100), and both amps produce clear, detailed amplification. Is there a replacement coming, or was this just not a viable niche?

I habe one also, works great for surround and atmos ceiling speakers. Not sure why they are discontinuing. This is why I no longer recommend Emotiva's amps to customers. Sad but true, as for me I do get to enjoy the 7 emotiva amps in my home.

I just bought an A-300 from Craigslist in mint condition for $290.00. I have this hooked to my Klipsch RP 6000 speakers (main) and run in 2 channel mode with two Def Tech 6000 subs. I purchased a Bluesound Node 2i streamer for hi res audio and am not turning back. This combo has given me the clearest sound I have owned so far. I listen to a 5.2.2 setup- Atmos and run that with my A-700 amp and could not be happier. Emotiva sound great paired with Klipsch.
