So I recently purchased some ceiling speakers Micca 8 inch, is it a good idea to install recessed back box for them . If so are there any advantages to doing this?

Just installed four of these and they do sound very nice. They are an open / infinite baffle speaker, open to the attic and very reasonable. Value for the money is incredible! Performance way above their cost. rslspeakers.com/c34e-ceiling-speaker/As to your question, I would seek advice from the manufacturer as to how your speakers will perform optimally. Enjoy!

I installed four Definitive Technology DI8R speakers in the ceiling and used XTC foam baffles to encase the speakers. The baffles will keep the attic insulation out of the speaker mechanics, protect them from moisture, help my air conditioner by keeping the cool air in the house and the hot air in the attic (I live in South Florida), keep the sound from radiating into other areas of the house and it seems to have tightened up the bass.
