If budget were not an issue, I would use a pair of Bob Carver mono blocks on those suckers.

What amp for ANY B&W speaker? How about a pair of Dynaco Mk. IIIs? Or if you want to buy new, how about a Prima-Luna or a Van-Alstine? Put anything except bright tubes in any of these and your B&Ws will sound like music. Just my two-cents... Boomzilla I had a pair of MK III’s for over 40 years, good amps and certainly fine for smaller B&W’s, but the 802D deserves much more power, I want to give them at least 200 WPC, and 500 wouldn’t hurt in a big room. Personally I’d prefer SS to get the best bass from the 802D.

Seeing the room treatment is figured out. Why not the DR amps by Emotiva? Also for tubes don't count out the Prima Luna amps if glass is your thing. Way more able than their specs say. About the smartest tube amp you could buy today.

Tubes are always tempting as I grew up in the 70s when my older brother was assembling both tube and SS receivers. I always liked the glow of the tubes and even seared a finger or two. For my headphone set up, I tried to get a good deal on CAM on a Lyr but deal fell through.
Got the response back from the dealer that the 802D units are 8-10 years old from a customer.
Chad - I did reply to the AVM60 seller in CAM, unit is pending sale (edit: just checked it now, already sold).
This morning, MDW said that maybe we should finish the basement first for a nice HT setup and a dance floor, apparently since we already have floor to ceiling mirror in one section and she likes to do Zumba and re-learn ballroom dancing. :-)

I once purchased a pair of Carver 1.ot’s. The first generation of those amplifiers did not have an external switch for bridging the channels and I wanted a more elegant solution than using “Y” connectors.
So brand new, we pulled the covers at the shop and did an internal bridge. With that, they were 1000 watts @8ohms! (ignorance was bliss back then.)
Before I left, my sales guy asked me if we could take them for a test run connected to the showroom B&W 801’s. We played for about an hour and those amps. drove the 801 incredibly.
The 801’s were hooked up to a Perreaux resting on the floor that was way more expensive than the two amps. I bought together and too heavy to lift. We listened to both and couldn’t tell the difference.

15 minute research on Prima Luna. Bold claims on the company site but Dialogue Premium do look good and price seems reasonable if claims prove true.

May be something like this? Wow! Those things look like toaster ovens! Perhaps with all the heat indeed...they would qualify??

Wow! Those things look like toaster ovens! Perhaps with all the heat indeed...they would qualify?? So, if you put frying pan with eggs on top you'll get 100% efficient amplifier with warm (and tasty) sound. Not even a single watt will be wasted...

May be something like this? Wow! Those things look like toaster ovens! Perhaps with all the heat indeed...they would qualify?? Quite the opposite. With Adaptive autobias vs. Cathode Bias. Guitar amps anyone? The tubes run much less hard, and will last much longer. A toaster they would be a poor imitation compared to much of its harder running competition.

If tubes are the hot ticket the VTA m125 monoblocks are a no brainier 🤔
