Hello all,
I recently purchased a used XMC 1, havent hooked it up yet. A while back when researching the XMC 1, I could of swore I came across a thread or someones post within a thread where it stated the USB cable shouldnt be any longer than??? If cable was loo long there can be connection issues. Ive tried finding this post but cant find it.
Anyone know if there is a Maximum length not to exceed? Anyone have any Brand recommendations for a cable?

Emotiva suggests no longer than 2 meters. Schiit Audio sells a nice 1 meter USB Cable from Straight Wire for $20, I use an Emotiva USB cable but unfortunately they stopped selling them www.schiit.com/products/pyst-cablesCheers, Chad

I have one USB cable that is 15' long. It works just as well as the 6' one that I feed the XDA-2 with. There are many things in life in which to fret over, a USB cable isn't one of them, IMO.

USB spec is max 5 meters. Shortest cable that reaches would be best. Obviously, the longer one is more likely to have issues from attenuation, interference, etc. If it works, don’t sweat it. There are extenders if you need to go longer.

The high-speed USB interface chip-set we use in the XMC-1 is somewhat sensitive to cable length and other electrical parameters. You will find that almost all standard USB cables up to about two meters in length will work well.
However, anything over that may or may not work, depending on what's at the other end, and the characteristics of the particular cable you're using.
Some USB cables as long as ten feet will work most of the time - we've had good luck with Amazon Basics USB cables (that would be the recommendation). You may find ones far longer that work fine.... but we won't promise that they will. Having one or more hubs between the source and the XMC-1 also MAY affect performance.
It's also worth pointing out that many "fancy audiophile USB cables" don't even meet the USB spec... and may or may not work well - or at all...

When using a hub/extender for longer runs, you're more likely to have success with one that has its own power supply and acts as a repeater. Of course, active devices will add some latency (~100ns, which may or may not be problematic).
