Is there a preferred order for the execution of commands when switching devices or turning on/off the system?
For example, when I Press and Hold the "Off" button, a macro executes that switches the XMC-1 back to HDMI 2 and the TV to HDMI 3, it then powers down the devices. I insert a slight delay between the commands to allow things to settle. Should you switch the XMC-1 first in the chain, or last?
I never thought much about it, it just worked. However, with the HDMI sync issues I'm having, It made me think that maybe I'm programming something in the wrong order.
I don't believe it matters, but thought I would ask.

Ideally you should only have to worry about this once since HDMI equipment is supposed to remember last known good EDID. So it appears you may just need to power down (and unplug) everything. Then try display, xmc and source manually so that EDID is transferred from source to avr then to display. I would turn off HDMI control in the devices (a smart remote will do this task anyway) while troubleshooting and set each device's output resolution to match as closely as you can to the display's native one. Then use the remote to power everything down and back up to see if the sync issues are gone with that one chain you just established. If that is good, go to the next device and power it on and then use the remote's macro for that device to switch to it. Now go back to the original device and then to the one you just powered on. If that works, go to the next one and repeat. For me that usually gets the system in sync. But a future power outage (or surge) might throw things out of sync again. So be mindful of that. Also introducing a new piece of gear with HDMI CEC enabled by default may be fun. I know CEC is supposed to avoid all of this mess but different manufactures interpret the rules differently (or cheat altogether) and it just makes a mess when it starts to break down. Just went through this with a Yamaha AVR I setup for a family member who didn't have a smart remote. CEC was working great for three months and then just stopped working and HDMI switching worked when it wanted to. What a PITA to get it back up and running. Turning CEC all off and minimizing resolution changes along with a smart remote, makes HDMI at least a little better to live with. Makes me almost miss component video.

I’d like to issue an order of EXECUTION for HDMI....period!
