I've been noticing a bit of negative entropy over time (it's not switching as well as it used to), and thought a factory reset might help.
Will Dirac filters be recovered if I do a factory reset and a load of my settings?

You would just have to reload the Dirac filters, easey peasey

I do a “factory reset” every time after I load a new firmware and I’ve never had to re-load the Dirac filters.

save a backup to a usb and you should have the dirac setup on your computer. once you have done a factory reset just restore settings and resend the dirac info.

Everything but the Dirac filters. You also can save your other settings with the “internal” memory instead of using a USB stick.

I've personally never had to factory reset my XMC-1 yet so I was just going by what I know from other devices haha, I'm surprised by that I would have thought it cleared everything to factory. Chad

That's my understanding as well. A reset does not wipe out the Dirac filters and a backup does not back them up.

I didnt remember that is why i said that the dirac files can be sent again but it does seem as though you are right in the fact that dirac may stay even though a reset takes place. oh and i was probably posting at the same time as you because your response wasnt there when i started typing. If it was i would have kept my mouth shut because you were on the ball

When you run Dirac for the first time: 1) the Dirac filters are transferred to the XMC-1 2) all of the Inputs are set to use the Dirac Preset as their default preset When you do a Factory Reset the Dirac filters themselves remain where they were (they cannot be erased). However, each individual Input is reset to use Preset 1 as its default preset. You can "get your Dirac filters back" on any input you like by manually setting it to use the Dirac Preset as its default preset again. (Or, if you Save and then Restore your configuration, that preset setting is restored to what it was for ALL of your inputs.)

So those can not be cleared in anyway?

No... you cannot actually clear the Dirac filters on the XMC-1. They are basically stored in an area which is only accessible to one of the internal processors. When you save a new filter for a particular channel it overwrites the one that was there before. However there is no way for the user to actually clear them. This is unlikely to cause any real issues - although it can cause odd results if you frequently change your configuration. For example.... - if you were to configure five speakers, then run Dirac, it would create five filters - if you were to then change speakers, configure only two speakers, and run Dirac, it would create and save two new filters (but the three filters for the other original three speakers would remain untouched) - if you were to then change the configuration again, back to five speakers, but NOT run Dirac again... you would have "two newer filters and three old filters from before"
This is different with the newer XMC-2, RMC-1, and RMC-1L... where the Dirac filters are stored as part of the configuration.
