If I followed the screens correctly it seems like it doesn’t see the RMC-1 on the USB port. Isn’t that where you started?

If you clicked "next" and did the install the rest of the way, all should work now. Does it? Mark

If I followed the screens correctly it seems like it doesn’t see the XMC-1 on the USB port. Isn’t that where you started? I would say correct but the RMC-1 is recognized because it shows up on the PC as an audio device, just not in Playback devices. im befuddled! 😳

Is this the computer with the 32’ cable? Has it worked since you changed cables? Could it be a hardware/cable problem.

It worked with the last 33’ identical cable and the PC until the 7 year old cable failed. The PC sees the RMC-1 as you can see in the pictures but then fails to connect with the drivers, if I’m doing it correctly. answer to your question, NO

Well good luck, I hope they can help you! But if that screen shot you posted is what you see when you right click on the file, and the menu that the arrow/cursor is pointing to is the first thing that opens up, my suggestion would be to try "Open" or "Win Zip" and if you do the latter, that ought to provide you with options to unzip/extract the file to a designated location on your hard drive. It looks like you have the necessary tools already. Is winzip worth $30. ? Since you got as far as you did, it doesn't look like unzipping the file is your problem. Win Zip isn't going to help because you already are able to unzip/extract the file. Now you have to resolve the problem that you posted with the screen shots after you replied above to my post. Sorry I can't help you with that - hope you can resolve it quickly, though!

If it was an active cable, maybe the USB port failed and it’s not powering the cable, so that the new cable in the same port has the same problem. Have you tried a different port?

STOP AND READ THIS NOW!
The USB input on the RMC-1 is DIFFERENT than on our previous devices and uses DIFFERENT DRIVERS. The RMC-1 WILL NOT work with the C-Media drivers (because it doesn't use a C-Media chip).
WE ARE STILL FINALIZING SOME OF THE USB AUDIO FEATURES ON THE RMC-1...
In the mean time....
The RMC-1 will work with current and recent Apple computers without extra drivers. The RMC-1 will work with current and recent versions of Windows 10 without extra drivers. (Any version of Windows 10 that includes "3D Paint" instead of "Paint" should have the drivers built in.)
For older versions of Windows, including Windows 7, you'll need a driver. THE C-MEDIA DRIVERS THAT WORK WITH OUR OTHER UNITS *WILL NOT WORK*.
You need THIS driver: RMC-1_INTERIM_USB_Drivers_2019_06_21.zip (1.4 MB)
At the moment this will only enable support of two-channel PCM audio up to 24/96k on the RMC-1.
(We will be enabling support on the RMC-1 for higher sample rates, and for DoP, via USB, soon.)
To install these: - download the ZIP file from the link - extract the single EXE file inside
- run the EXE file to install the driver (connect the RMC-1 when it tells you to "connect your device"
- your computer should then recognize the RMC-1
NOTE that some player programs have settings separate from Windows.
So, for example, if you set "RMC-1" as your audio output device IN WINDOWS then you'll hear system dings and boings through your RMC-1. However, if you want to play music through your RMC-1 using FooBar2000 or jRiver, you'll have to ALSO go into THAT PROGRAM'S setup and choose the RMC-1 as your playback device.
NOTE that, until a future update, using WASAPI or another bit-perfect playback mode, you will only be able to play files up to24/96k via USB. Most player programs have other modes which will enable them to play any file types and sample rates they support by adapting the sample rate they send to the RMC-1.
Looking for some help from my friends here on the forum. I’m trying to stream music from a Windows 7 PC to my RMC-1 and the PC has a problem. When I plug the USB cable into the PC it sees it but has a problem and an exclamation mark over the speaker emblem in “Devices and Printers” Do I need special drivers? im not that good with computers so I need help and maybe some handholding. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I was out in the woods with Scouts until quite late, so missed opportunities to chime in. But at least it was a beautiful night outside!
