2 week old Bass x a500 has stopped outputting sound. All lights are blue. Hear a short 1 second hum when the power switch is pressed that seems to be coming from the transformer area. Not audible through the speakers. Swapped cables and preamps. Same problem. My experience says fuses, but I'm unsure about taking the cover off an amp this new to check, as I don't want to inadvertently void a warranty. Any thoughts on cause?

So you’re saying you hear a short mechanical hum when it’s first turned on, then the hum goes away, then nothing? What do you hear if there are no input or output cables connected and you turn it on. If that doesn’t make any odd sounds, connect only the speaker cables, visibly checking each one for shorts, and possibly an ohm meter showing total resistance of wire and speaker. You’re right that you should call Emotiva before opening it up.

Just call Emotiva and have them swap it out under warranty. No point doing anything else.

You’re right that you should call Emotiva before opening it up. I opened it up anyway as I figure I would have a valid argument against voiding a warranty, as Emotiva themselves sent the extra fuses. Alas it was the fuses and the amp has risen again. I will still call emo tomorrow as a 2 week old amp should not be blowing fuses. I use all quality interconnects and wire and their have been no power surges. Thank you for helping.
