I may have a crack at getting a nice-condition, gently-used Bryston BP-25 Pre-Amp (with Remote) at a decent price
PLUSSES: -Bryston's reputation for BOTH Build and Sound Quality. -True differential design -Power Supply (transformer) in Separate, Isolated enclosure -Small and Simple -HAS Remote (normally, an "add-on" item)
MINUSES: -Still a bit costly (between 700-800 USD) -Lacks managed Sub Output
Anybody here have experience with one? If I BUY it - I'm probably "stuck" with it, (no opportunity to "audition" it. OTOH - If it does not live-up to my expectations, I could probably unload it for the same as what I would pay
They're supposedly just a touch on the Warm side, which could tend to round-out the supposed "colorlessness" of my XPS-2. So, I suspect that the synergy has the potential to be good
What say you - Oh wise Emotiva collective?

I can’t vouch for the BP25, but I really enjoyed the BP26/MPS2 when I had it. The thing about Bryston that everyone complains about is the price, but if bought used and smartly, as it sounds like is your opportunity, you can enjoy them and lose less than buying Emotiva new if changing equipment later. A few years ago I bought a 4BSST2, the BP26/MPS2 above and a BDA-2 as a package, and ended up making 20+% selling them off piece by piece after using them for a while.
I’m not sure when the unit you are looking at was built, but be aware that the 20 year warranty transfers automatically for anything built before 2006 (look on the back for build date as “YYWW”), but for equipment built after early 2006, warranty transfer requires a copy of the original purchase invoice from an “authorized dealer”, or you’re likely on your own.
Good luck!

Never Mind
E-mailed seller and got a simple "Not Interested" reply (must be having 2nd thoughts about selling it or hoping that a "Bidding-War" will ensue)
Unless a different / similar unit comes-up in the future...
