Considering purchasing the XMC2. However, unlike the XMC1, there are no detailed specs/measurements. For example the XMC-1 has the specs below. I have looked for detailed specs on the XMC2 but they aren't in the description or in the manual that I can see. Where are the detailed specs, or will the info be updated soon?
Balanced Input to Balanced Output (Reference Stereo Mode): THD: <0.0005% @ 1 kHz. THD: < 0.002% (20 Hz to 20 kHz). IMD: < 0.004% @ 1 kHz. S/N ratio: > 123 dB (A weighted). Frequency Response: 5 Hz to 80 kHz (+0 / -0.1 dB). Crosstalk: <100 dB. Unbalanced Input to Unbalanced Output (Reference Stereo Mode): THD: <0.0007% @ 1 kHz. THD: < 0.003% (20 Hz to 20 kHz). IMD: < 0.005% @ 1 kHz. S/N ratio: > 114 dB (A weighted). Frequency Response: 5 Hz to 80 kHz (+0 / -0.1 dB). Crosstalk: <100 dB. Digital Input to Balanced Analog Output (HDMI PCM): THD: < 0.00025% @ 1 kHz. THD: < 0.002% (20 Hz to 20 kHz). S/N ratio (all main channels): > 110 dB (A weighted). S/N ratio (subwoofer channels) > 100 dB (A weighted). Analog Inputs to Analog Outputs via Digital Signal Path (modes that include processing or bass management): THD: <0.0007% @ 1 kHz. THD: < 0.0007% (20 Hz to 20 kHz). IMD: < 0.005% @ 1 kHz. S/N ratio: > 106 dB (A weighted).

I feel like I read somewhere that Emotiva extended the return policy of the RMC-1 until they finally release Dirac for it. If I was to buy an XMC-2 today, would I only get the standard 30-day return, or would I be eligible for the "until Dirac" return policy? Call Emotiva to confirm, but it is my understanding that this is the case. Mark Looks like you only get the extended warranty if you buy an RMC-1 (even though they both lack Dirac).

Have any of you attempted to play DSD over USB through the XMC-2?

I don't think Emotiva is as transparent as before, so I am not surprised. They also stopped posting the AP test results for their GEN3 amps. I always loved their transparency. The specs you pasted bellow helped by purchased the XMC-1 SSP over the Marantz. Considering purchasing the XMC2. However, unlike the XMC1, there are no detailed specs/measurements. That is really unfortunate if they have changed their direction away from objective, measured test results in their product descriptions. It makes purchasing decisions much easier to me. It also shows how much they care about performance compared to other companies that list no measured specs. Basically it is a matter of time before someone purchases one and has it measured. Those results will be available via 3rd party. I really liked seeing measured results and am disappointed it looks like they no longer are doing that. It showed a great deal of confidence and proof of engineering.

Hey everyone,
I'm going to work to get that level of spec information up for the new processors as well as dedicated AP reports for the main core of XPA amplifiers.

I hope there is a miscommunication on their part. If the XMC-2 doesn't have DIRAC and they are extending the return policy on the RMC-1 for that reason, why would they not do the same for the XMC-2? I realize the RMC-1 was far less stable at it's launch than the XMC-2, but neither are perfectly stable right now.

Mark Personally matters that have possible gray areas, I tend to pick up the phone and explain why I'm asking. In this case, I would ask, "since the RMC-1's 30 day return period doesn't start until DIRAC is released, does this also apply to the XMC-2 as well?" It's at this point that the Emotiva sales rep(who may not know about the RMC-1/DIRAC return period that Dan/Lonnie told us about) says "hold on" and I'll get that definitive answer from Dan or Lonnie(and it doesn't get any more definitive than that)!!!

Agree. It may well be that a mistaken answer was given OR...Dirac will be on the XMC-2 as it ships from now on. Mark

Yep. But I would not accept some phone call answer on this topic as gospel from Emotiva, or anyone else for that matter. Once I got an answer on the phone, I'd be sending someone there an email, or posting via tags here to get a formal written reply to get some form of written confirmation. My lawyer tells me every time, if its not in writing it doesn't count. I hope someone here has been smart enough to screen shot or save or print out the RMC-1 return policy thing that was posted here. Otherwise it could vanish into thin air - poof.

Fewer and fewer manufacturers are posting meaningful specs. Getting these specs up on your XMC2/RMC1 and XPA amps would be fantastic. Thanks!

Yeah I've contacted Grayson again for clarification. Seems odd that the trial period would be extended for the RMC-1 but not the XMC-2 when Dirac was supposedly the reason for the extension (as far as I know) and they both still lack Dirac. I would not accept some phone call answer on this topic as gospel from Emotiva, or anyone else for that matter. I'd be more comfortable getting it in black-and-white text that I can return the product after the standard 30-day trial period. Otherwise they could flip on it (not saying they would) and you wouldn't have much ground to stand on.

Yes, they show a commitment to state of the art engineering, transparency and a willingness to objectively measure what they produce... and the most important of all, to show they are creating products that don't add audible noise and distortion to the audio signal. When a company does not show detailed specs it is always a red flag to me. Many even high end components aren't even able to resolve 16 bit audio when tested and introduce noise and distortion. With the excellent specs of the XMC1 it is a great opportunity for Emotiva to show their continued commitment producing state of the are gear with their new XMC-2/RMC-1 products as well as their amps. Look forward to the addition of measured specs.

I thought you guys were talking about power consumption for information purposes only. This doesn’t appear to be a high priority item for high end audio but to each his own I guess 😊. Well while listening a don`t mind the power consumption but otherwise, which is most of the time, I do... Then the following item will be, for the upcoming time, the latest "American Build" item we had bought:

Yeah I've contacted Grayson again for clarification. I spoke to Grayson some more. At first he indeed confirmed that XMC-2 only had a standard 30-day return policy, but then he also said the RMC-1 only had the extended return policy because it was a new platform at the time. However, that raised the question, does that mean the RMC-1 no longer has the extended return policy since it's been "almost a year" and "most of the major bugs have been addressed"? After asking about the RMC-1's present day return policy he replied with a correction. So in the end, it does indeed appear that both the XMC-2 and RMC-1 have the "30 days after Dirac launch" return policy. Just an FYI to anyone out there searching for that info.

Well I won’t be returning mine but it’s good too know that Emotiva acknowledges that they have yet to deliver all the features of the XMC2. Hopefully we will get Dirac at some point in the future.
