No. I was hopingwith the flexibility of 16 channels I could pick a diffferent pair for the mains on a different preset. Pretty sure the answer to your question is a hard no. There's been extensive talk about being able to reassign outputs in the RMC threads.. and Keith gave a resounding no to it saying it would be too much trouble to rewrite the code.

Hello, I have a used XMC1 on the way and am considering upgrading to the XMC2 later in October/November as well. Can you save a speaker preset with 2 different set of main speakers? Let’s say you have a matching set of speakers you want to use for theater and save a present for theater, can you have another preset for 2 channel made of different main speakers? In particular with the 16 channels of the xmc2 it seems like this might be possible. Thanks! ^^^^^^^ Ditto to the post above. While you can have one preset for one purpose, and the other preset for another purpose, both presets must first use the Left and Right main speakers. Without Left/Right main speakers chosen in Setup, no other speakers will become selectable. Here's an example. Say you wanted to Setup Rear speakers, but not have Surrounds, can't do it. When you deselect the Surrounds the Rears disappear as a choice. The bottom line is that you must tell the system that there are Main Left and Right speakers. Now here's a possible setup: Let's say you want to use a particular pair of speakers for only 2-channel, and use many other speakers for only non-2-channel. You "could" have amplification for just the stereo and Triggered to be on only when ALL-STEREO mode is assigned to Preset 2, and Trigger all other amplification to be OFF. I believe this is possible, but I don't know how it would sound because you'd HAVE to use a pair of outputs OTHER than Left and Right for this to work. This means that you're not using the better sounding Left/Center/Right electronics of the XMC-2 which kinda defeats the purpose of using a particular pair of speakers for 2 channel bliss. You'd also need to make sure that the amps for the secondary Left/Right are Triggered OFF when using Preset 1. What I've found is that my great speakers for 2 channel are also great for 7.2. edit: Also, you need to setup Preset 2 to have as many channels selected as needed so the pair you've chosen for Stereo Only will show up as selectable, AND just Trigger all the other amps to be OFF. Kinda goofy but fun as an exercise of what's possible.

Just installed the XMC-2 and for the most part everything seems to be working well with the exception of my Apple TV 4K. The Apple TV device passes the Dolby Vision test upon initial startup and I can stream 4K Dolby Vision content fine. However, when I exit the program and go back to the Apple TV Main Menu to select another app - my TV (LG OLED65B7A) screen begins to flash on and off and won't lock onto the signal. I can fix it by switching the XMC-2 to another HDMI input and then back to the Apple TV input. Has anyone else experienced this issue and can it be fixed without changing inputs? I've experienced this with the RMC-1 and my AppleTV 4K as well. To get rid of the flashing I changed the video format in the AppleTV 4K settings under "Video and Audio" from 4K@60Hz to 4K@24Hz. So the XMC-2 cannot handle 4K at 60Hz?

On the ATV4K I can set the video to 4K/60 SDR, HDR, or DV, the XMC-1v3 and now the RMC-1, report the appropriate information, as does my Sony TV. I can also play a demo file from my Oppo that’s in 4K/60 DV and Atmos, everything reports correctly and none of these flicker, or drop out. So I’m pretty sure everything can support 4K/60 at close to full 18Gbps bandwidth. That doesn’t mean the others might not have cable issues, but they both do have LG TVs.

I just noted the LG in common, but if you can’t duplicate their issue then comparing settings might help, or it could be cables.

Very frustrating no question. But with the new Hdmi cable, DV is no longer a problem. I just ran the HDMI test on the Apple TV and it said I Have no problems.

As far as I know, as of now, it is a totally new version, and will require a new license. So for the folks that purchased the full version of Dirac on the XMC-1 and trade up to the XMC-2, will we still have that license when it’s released or will we have to buy a new license?

Well it ended up being a bad HDMI cable. I replaced the new 3ft Monoprice cable between the AppleTV/RMC-1, with the Emotiva Z-HDMI I was using before that I knew worked and no more flickering. Interesting that changing from 4K@60 to 4K@24 worked with the defective cable, the only conclusion I can muster at this point is the bandwidth is half. Anyhow I gave them a call and they are sending me out another one.
