No, audiophile.... Well... Some of the Topping products certainly have "audiophile" performance. The problem for many is that Topping is reasonably priced, measures well, and therefore not "high end and excellent" And never a mention if the Nay Sayers have ever auditioned these DAC's that they deplore

OMG guys - really? Measurements are just measurements. T Measurements are not measurements when they are not done in accordance with industry standards. They are just data at that point, and have no real meaning. No worth in following this anymore, however: If you quote me, quote me fully and don´t rip a little part out... I explained further down why I still see value in the data / measurements / whateveryouwanttocall it. Thanks!

It was dry and lifeless and lacked dynamics and generally sounded like crap. I sold it on Fleabay two weeks later.

I don't date redheads anymore because they are all style crampers.

So all redheads, even the ones I don't date, can't possibly be anything other than bombshells.

Odd forum; support ASR when they diss high-end products, criticize him when dissing Emo.
I say he has no credibility.

He does not use standard practices when evaluating equipment. He used 4v input to evaluate a Marantz AV8500 when the standard is 2.8v, resulting in high THD+N due to overloading. He also evaluated THD-N over a 90Khz bandwidth ignoring that much of the THD-N was shifted out of the audible band due to the filter employed. I think he is a technician with little scientific or engineering training.

ASR doesn't like high end products. The haters will act like a mob to justify that they got the best deal on audio equipment ever and saved so much money buying a topping dac. Everybody knows that there is a lot of snake oil in this business but I love all the engineering behind my Esoteric products.

Topping *ALWAYS* wins at ASR. I wonder why that is... This is not the true. Their DAC's measure extremely well and the tests reflect that. However he did measure 2 Topping amps: Topping TP60 and FX Audio FX502SPro. They measured terribly and in the review also performed a listening test and they also did not sound good at all either. Link to review: www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-topping-tp60-and-fx-audio-fx502spro-amps.5025/"Conclusions I try to not get emotional when it comes to testing products but sometimes the test results either get me excited or depressed. And boy, was I depressed after seeing these results. The measurements here indicate that neither one of these amplifiers fit any definition of high-fidelity we strive for in this forum. The FX Audio FX502SPro is extremely cheap but in my book, is not a proper product. It has design issues and lacks power. " In the case of the Topping Amps his measurements and listening tests actually match your own experience. In the case of the XMC-1 review, it measured well except for the linearity test. As noted in the discussion in the review, it appears to simply be a triggered response from the analyzer where the xmc1 is muting the signal to not have any clicks/pops between tracks etc. There are 2-3 users there that have the unit and it doesn't seem to be an issue for them, in particular for home theater use. Measurements show it measures better than new units from other brands that are new and the retail price much more expensive than the XMC1. While this unit didn't meet its specs, it has done better than Marantz and NAD comparable units tested. The tests have encouraged me to give the XMC2 a try when the they start the trade in program. Lastly, Audiosciencereview is not a business. He is a retired microsoft exec, purchased the Audio Precision APx555 ($30k). He purchases a large percentage of the units he tests himself and members send in their units to test. The particular XMC1 was from me and I find the results pretty interesting. As with all things YMMV/IMHO.

He was an exec? Fascinating. I’d never have thought that from the exchanges I’ve seen.
