So I recently moved woo hoo But I also lost my custom built ins around the fireplace that hiding all my gear seeing as I sold the house. So my new place the kitchen - living area is one room, its big enough to work but it doesn't have a lot of extra space., so building something wont work needs to be furniture piece. I have wall area about 80 inches worth which is great but the Dear wife has this theme of "Kitchen Farm house vibe look" While it works and keeps her happy ... its also making life difficult for me in finding something to store my equipment in. Its currently in a sanus rack which is a no go from her. I looked at salamander - too modern - too much metal - too much no go I personally loved it but she was epic hell to the no.. UGH. BDI - again same same The one and only thing that is a maybe from her is this from standoutdesigns. But the cost is approaching 4K, doesn't have any sort of rack mounting, only shelves. and I'm not even sure it will work with my emotiva gear. XPA-7, XMC1, basic TV receiver and blue-ray player. TV is mounted on the wall. www.standoutdesigns.com/collections/norwalk-solid-wood-media-consoles-tv-stands/products/norwalk-66-inch-wide-american-solid-wood-media-console-with-media-storage-drawers?variant=12291442016339SO..... Anyone know of any other brands of AV gear that has the look of Farm house ... I recon traditional would be appropriate.

Not sure this is the style you're looking for but this is what I bought recently. It's around $1100 and weighs about 200 lbs. It's very well built and is real wood. Bello PR45.

I've installed plenty of A/V closets there using AC Infinity fans and coolers. Most people don't use that cabinet as its generally too high and they have enough space. You could then use a Logitech Harmony remote or equivalent to control your gear. Out of site, and far less money if you do it yourself. Just a thought.

How about posting some pictures of the rest of the furnishings? That way we can possibly suggest something similar.
Happy New Year to All Gary

We are about to enjoy New Years Eve today. Nothing special is planned, we will open our restaurant and serve until the last customer! Whenever that may be. I pray that 2020 will bring a better year and decade as this past one has seen the loss of my father and brother. We are still trying to deal with the latter as he just recently passed. Not trying to be Debbie Downer, have a wonderful safe New Years Gary. novis

It sounds like in your case - satisfying SWMBO may require some CREATIVITY on your part: If you have some space for a (semi) "Free-Standing" piece of furniture - Look at Estate Sales or a Consignment Dealer for an old-shool, painted wood cabinet / hutch or china cabinet. (Actually, an Armoire might offer a more desirable depth for larger components like Amps, if you can find a spot to tuck it into where you can get wiring in and out...) Then "gut" it and build-in some shelves and maybe some wireway (I like Panduit Snap-Track - the vinyl channel type stuff with slots on the top and bottom when run Horizontally and a snap-on cover) Then go with a Remote Repeater and some way to hide wire and cable as it enters / leaves the hiding place. If it has glass in the doors, you can probably get it replaced with textured and/or colored glass. If it's not already finished in a way that fits-in - perhaps give it a simulated "antique" crusty-paint / white-washed / look If you need something deeper than what you can find - you may be able to have a local cabinet-guy / carpenter re-use the fascia and doors and make a deeper back section that will fit your gear and wiring.
