Greeting and thank you in advance for your help with this.
I am getting a loud constant buzzing sound from my outdoor deck and patio speakers.
Here is my setup:
Living Room:
5.1 Polk Audio LSi15, LSiC & LSiFX / Velodyne SPL 1200
Emotiva XMC-1 - Gen I, Emotiva XPA-2 - Gen II, Emotiva XPA-3 - Gen II
Pro-Ject RM 1.3 turntable (Acrylic Platter & Ortofon 2M Blue Cartridge, Pro-Ject Speedbox S, Little Bear T-10 Pro tube preamp)
Media PC with Sound Blaster Z, PS4, 4K Cable box
Deck & Patio:
Two Emotiva A-150 off XMC-1 Zone 2 with RCA spliter cable
Two pairs of Polk Audio Atrium 8 SDI
The XMC-1 is a Gen I from 2015. I moved to a new home about a year ago and added the pair of A-150s off of the zone 2 outputs of the XMC-1 with a spliter cable. At that time, my deck screen room was not built but a had a pair of speakers mounted over my patio. I hooked them up and they sounded great with no buzzing sound.
Shortly after I set up the zone 2 I sent my XMC-1 back to Emotiva to get the HDMI 2.0b board upgrade and firmware update.
After my screen room was built I hooked up the second pair of Polk Audio Atrium 8 SDI speakers to the other A-150 amp. I then heard a buzzing sound coming out of both pairs of outdoor speakers. The buzzing was a little louder on the right channel of both sets. The main indoor speakers sound crystal clear with no buzzing. I checked all of my outdoor speaker connections for any stray wire strands or damage to the speaker cable. I also used an alcohol pad to clean all of the RCA cable connections. Buzz was still there. I then reversed the left and right RCA cables on the XMC-1 Zone 2 out and the louder buzz was then coming out to the left channel. I reversed them back and the louder buzz was then back to the right channel. Next I secured all of the wires, keeping all of the power cords, RCA and XRL cables and all speaker cables together and away from each other. Buzz was still there. Next I replaced both of the Y RCA spiter cables with higher quality ones. Buzz was still there and sounded the same.
About two weeks later I turned on the zone 2 speakers and there was no buzz, it sounded crystal clear. I hadn't changed anything or moved anything around that I can think of.
A few days ago I pulled the system away from the wall to hook up a IR repeater to the IR In on the XMC-1. There is now a buzz that is louder then before that is even on both the right and left of both sets of outdoor speakers.
• The buzz is constant starts as soon as the Zone 2 is turned on and the triggers turn on the pair of A-150 amps.
• The volume of the buzz does not change with the volume of the source or changes on the Zone 2 volume from the remote control.
• I cycled through the zone 2 sources and the buzz was not interrupted as the sources changed.
• I replaced the Y RCA cables with standard RCA cables to one of the A-150 amps and the buzz as still there. I then moved that RCA cable to the other A-150 amp and the buzz was also still there.
• I put the Y RCA cables back on and with the XMC-1 on and Zone 2 on I turned off one of A-150 amps and the buzz was still there. I then turned the other one on and that one off and the buzz was still there.
• With the XMC-1 turned off (in stand by mode) I manually turned on each of the A-150 amps and the buzz was there.
• I unplugged the RCA cables from the XMC-1 Zone 2 out and manually powered on each of the A-150 amps. No buzz.
• With the XMC-1 in stand by mode I plugged the RCA Y cables into the XMC-1 Zone 1 out and manually powered on each of the A-150 amps. Buzz
• With the XMC-1 in stand by mode I plugged the RCA Y cables into the XMC-1 main left and right channels RCA out and manually powered on each of the A-150 amps. Buzz
• Plugged the RCA cables back into the Zone 2 output and turned off the XMC-1 in the back. Turned on the A-150 amps. Buzz
• I unplugged the turn table and pre amp and turned the A-150 amps and Buzz.
There is no buzz coming from any of the indoor speakers. There is no buzz when the A-150 amps are powered on but not plugged into the XMC-1. I have the XMC-1 on the top shelf of my audio cabinet and two A-150 amps are stacked on top of each other on the shelf directly below. My phono pre-amp is sitting on top of the XMC-1 and the turn table is on top of the audio cabinet.
Like such:

The ground wire to the turn table runs to the pre-amp then to the ground on a outlet plug. It is not grounded to the XMC-1. The pre-amp is on rubber feet on top of the XMC-1.
I am guessing there is current from the XMC-1 running down the RCA cables to the A-150 amps?
Thank you again for any suggestion on how to fix this. It is driving me crazy.
