I recently was able to get a free PT-7030 processor off a fellow Canuck Audio Mart member, I had to pay a measly $45 in shipping, he had it stored for a few years and went to use it and could not get the RCA analog outputs to work, he posted it for free for parts so I was able to get him to ship it to me and should be here by weeks end, I know it may be slim but what are the chances the XLR outputs would work, has anyone had this issue with their 7030, I figured what the heck I will give it a shot and if it doesn't work I will simply put it up for free also in case someone needs parts to bring theirs back to like.

No chance. Probably a power supply issue.

No chance. Probably a power supply issue. He said everything seemed to work fine other than couldn't get sound from the RCA outs and couldn't test the XLR, did you have this issue puff ?

I'd wager a very good chance - 2 different output circuits.

Chad It might be reasonable to send it to Emotiva. They may charge a couple hundred bucks to get it fixed if possible.

It's possible that the previous owner didn't know how the switching works on the 7030. I'm going by memory but IIRC you need to go into the menu system a few layers to tell the machine which inputs you want to use, digital or analog. Am I recalling this correctly?

AFAIK he was using it and had to put everything in the boxes for a few years, took it back out and couldn't get any sound to output on the RCA connection that he used to his amp(s), it should be here by weeks end or earl next week so I will report back. No, I'm just guessing that if there is no output, it is because of the output power supply. I think RCA and XLR share a power supply. Other circuitry with a different working voltage like screen and logic would be on a different power supply that is still working. Probably caps - you can fix it.

Chad Doubtful that something that was working when it was stored away would break down while in storage. He must be overlooking something. Either that or a mouse chewed through some wires! Or something got knocked loose inside when he was storing it.

May be relevant ; according to pg20 of the 7030 manual ; ''7.1 balanced outputs and 7.1 unbalanced outputs provide the same output signal and both are always active". The good thing is the 7030 balanced xlr's are true differential iirc and not fake unbalanced [split unbalanced] to xlr sockets like some marantz and onkyo's were hope springs eternal

"I bought this Sherbourn PT-7030 on CAM five years ago and put it in storage in 2018 while doing some renovations. I didn't get around to hooking it up again until a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn't get the unbalanced RCA analogue outputs to work. (Everything else seemed fine.) I took this as an opportunity to upgrade to a processor with 4k HDMI switching, so no longer have any use for the PT-7030. I'm hoping to give it to someone who wants to repair it or cannibalize it for parts."
Cheers, Chad

Okay too much thinking going on here. Though one poster had it right. 2 Separate circuits here though some summing is probably the case when using the RCAs vs. XLR balanced. Note he said outputs, not inputs. Outputs customarily are always hot. That is Analog outputs that is. Both Balanced and Unbalanced should be hot at all times on the Outputs. Previous owner input assignment and such is possibly suspect. In which case. Woo hoo, a great bargain maybe had.

Got a notification that the 7030 was delivered to front door left outside in light rain, wife said no one knocked or anything so luckily I get notifications as it could have gotten a little wet or better yet stolen off our step sheesh...

Less whining about shippers and more confirming the balanced outs work.
