Well any work is appreciated So what devices have you currently integrated into Home Assistant? By your interest in getting an IP driver for Emotiva, I’m guessing it doesn’t have an IR bridge (as I think Roomie has?). How have other products with IP remote capabilities integrated? I know the Harmony Hub can control Sony TVs and Dish Hoppers via IP, but don’t know who wrote the drivers. I saw you asked about Z-Wave integration on the Harmony thread. I can tell you that with Home Assistant, Z-Wave integration works very well. And the support is very broad. I also use Zigbee a lot. I've been buying cheap Aqara brand Zigbee motion sensors from AliExpress that trigger lights and music throughout the house, dependent on who's home, time of day, etc etc. When I'm not home, the same motion sensors work as an alarm system. Humidity sensors in my bathroom that trigger the fan, but the behaviour is different depending on if my HVAC system is set to cool or heat mode . The fan triggers at very low humidity increases in Cooling mode, trigger threshold much higher when house in Heat mode since I have a drafty older home. I also have the Aqara and Tuya Zigbee scene switches throughout my place. Programmed the switches for lights/TV/music etc etc. I even bought a few Aqara leak detectors that will trigger my Z-Wave main water valve shutoff if ever they get wet. Of course, I also get notifications on my phone. To be honest, I'm barely even scratching the surface of what Home Assistant can do. It would be wonderful to integrate my Emotiva into the music automations.

Here’s a use case:
HomeAssistant already has the power to read the state of a connected media player and trigger automations based on changes.
So for instance, if you have a Squeexebox, Sonos, or any other connected network audio device, HomeAsistant can turn on the Emotiva, set it to the right input, and set the volume based simply on the audio device state changing to ‘playing’.
You could even set conditions for what the initial volume will be based on time of day or who is home (using the device tracker in the companion phone app).

I would be able to do quite a bit with an Emotive Home Assistant integration. For starters, I could simplify and create efficient automation for my system that run locally (avoid using the cloud resulting with command response times).
For example, My current AV setup is Roku media player, Sony TV, living room lights and Emotiva XMC-1 . All these devices except for the Emotiva are supported/have integration with Home Assistant. Thus, currently and for a while now, I control these AV devices with Harmony Hub (which also supports integration with Home Assistant). Now, if the XMC-1 supported Home Assistant, I could remove the Harmony Hub and now locally control all of my av components. I am using Harmony Hub as a front end for my XMC-1 in my automation (Turn on/off & trigger amps, set correct input, trigger amps, control volume...)
This integration would allow me to simplify advanced home and av automation.

I've written a home assistant integration to the XMC-1, creating a media player entity so you can do things like on/off/volume/mute/sources/sound modes etc.. It also has a remote send command, to allow you to send any supported command from the API. It uses notifications from the XMC, so the xmc tells HA when things change, and is fully async, so plays nicely with HA. I've only tried it myself at the moment on my XMC-1. If anyone fancies trying it out on XMC-2, RMC-1 or on their XMC, let me know as I'd like to get it tested more broadly before pushing it to HACS. It's at github.com/peteS-UK/emotiva if you want to try it.
