I did not care for any of the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY just not my thing---though the music was good guardians is not the best but I do think a recent list of commercial movies you do like would be appreciated for a baseline. If for example you didn't like season 7 of game of thrones I could just write you off my tastes list. LOL!

I keep binge watching Seasons 1 & 2 of "The Expanse." The TV series can be slightly hard to follow if you haven't read the books, but I really, really like the mixture of (relatively) near-future cyberfiction combined with historical insights into human foibles. No matter how much we tech-up, it seems that we're still monkey tribes at heart.
But despite the problems we create for ourselves, this series (like Star-Trek) is optimistic about our future. The story may be very dark at times, but we keep advancing despite ourselves. On the other hand, the resolution of the series is debatable - this series may end up being the ultimate proof of the truism "curiosity killed the cat..."
Well worth watching!

And tonight - "A Most Wanted Man" starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, and Willem Dafoe. Being based on a John LeCarre novel, it goes without saying that the movie was slowly-paced, full of people who smoke and drink continuously, and is ultimately very depressing.
A good plot, but some better dialogue and editing could have made this a much, much better movie. And, unfortunately, this is probably a pretty realistic movie...

Went to see "Dunkirk" with my son yesterday night. My wife was out of town, so it was a good opportunity for manly bonding 😁.
Intriguing movie, although one of the strangest, if not THE strangest, war movie I have ever seen.
Christopher Nolan sure has a way to leave his mark on the movies he directs.
Same with Hans Zimmer and it's music. It reminded me of what John Williams did with "Jaws" and the famous 2-note theme. Just multiplied by 10...

This one is in my que this afternoon, except the 4K version. We decided on the 3d version because it was a highly rated 3d presentation and new 3d releases are getting scarce. Very good 3d this one. I'm sure the 4K presentation will be no less entertaining.

I'm sure the 4K presentation will be no less entertaining. I've not been able to actually finish any of the latest DC comic movies in one sitting, if at all. The Man of Steel movies, Batman vs Superman, and Suicide Squad were all busts in my opinion. Here's hoping that Wonder Woman lives up to the hype I've been reading/hearing.

For those of you familiar with this movie from 1982, you know it was well ahead of it's time and a must have in any home theater enthusiasts library. I have the 5-Disc Complete Collector's Edition, 1080p blu-ray which contains the Directors Final Cut, which really looks great(for an older sci-fi move) and its Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track quite impressive. So now on to the 4K UHD Bluray version. I can honestly say I wasn't expecting big improvements, but I'm happy to say that I was wrong. On the video-side, I am amazed at the crispness of the details of this 35 year old movie on this UHD-bluray and yes HDR brings and added wow. As for the audio-side, well the Dolby Atmos(in my case Dolby TrueHD 7.1) track is most definitely a worthy companion to the video. It did not disappoint and it made great use of both the side and back surrounds. It just makes me wonder how much more improved it would be with the immersive ceiling channels. I consider this go to demo material and highly recommend it to those of you with a 4K display.
