because of the placement of my amps, i will be in need of some 15-20 ft mono-8th inch jack trigger cables to run from the pre-pro to the amps. i checked monocable and they seem to only have the stereo types.
does anyone know of a source for these cables?

The stereo version will work for a trigger cable.

I read that the yellow cable is ignore. The red is positive and white is negative for the stereo 3.5 from monoprice. Then just wire that your ad/ac adapter.
Would hooking up the wrong polarity damage the amp?

I will stop by radio shack today. So no need to test the polarity of the ac/dc adapter to determine the polarity? Just making sure cause somebody from avsf... said it will toast . Will this work? You mean I have to solder? www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062452tnt

You should be just fine doing this. If you have a multimeter, just hook up the AC/DC adapter to the end of your "new" trigger cable, and then check the polarity before you wire up the mono 1/8th jack at the other end. I believe the Emotiva amps specify how they want the polarity right on the back of the unit itself. If I recall, the "tip" is hot (+) and the "sleeve" is negative (-). I wouldn't worry about toasting the amps, like knuckleheadjones said, "it just won't trigger the amp."

I think in my case, I need the wall wart cause the onkyo 805 trigger will only work for zone 2. Thats what I read. I bought the cable you listed from monoprice but different in lenght. I cute out one end and saw red, white and yellow. tnt

I made a trigger cable the other day for my XPA5. I took a Motorola 5v mini usb wall wart, cut the end off and spliced on a mono 3.5mm plug. Center (tip) is positive. White stripe on the wall wart cable was positive.
Works well. No need for 12v.

That is a stereo cable, not mono but people say it will still work.
Post two above says yes...it will work.

yes - mono and stereo both work fine - I've tried both successfully. Coincidentally, I use the monoprice cables

I got some of the monoprice one`s but they are very thick because they are stereo. I don`t use them now. Try here. www.cablesforless.com

Use the cheapest you can find. All they do is "trigger" on/off. there is no affect on the audio/video quality.

I found a seller on ebay offering a set of (10) 3.5mm Mono plugs for around 6 bucks and change (including shipping). Should be easy to make custom trigger cables. Just search for "3.5mm mono plug".
