I have a Rythmik F12 in my 5.1 system and it is a fabulous sub ;D I have no regrets getting it, and wish I had room for another one in my 2.1 system - but I don't which is why I am looking at the Ultra10 I had to send back a lot of subs because they brought too much attention to themselves in my 2.1 setup. My journey stopped with Rythmik. Are you referring to the velodyne? Is it sealed and servo?

Why are you surprised that he would consider the Ultra 10? Have you heard it? No I haven't. That is why I am curious. I'm not sure which model he is referring to. It's not released yet. It is one that has been in development by Emotiva. About the only time anyone has heard the Emo subs is at Emofest a few months back. They subs did really well and it wasn't even the finished design.

looks very similar to my rythmik. it appears to be sealed as well which is a plus for music. my view is that any sub which does well in music will do well with HT. will be interesting to see how fast and tight it plays and whether the design allows it to dispense with servo technology, which upper end subs use to achieve seamless integration (JL audio, martin logan, velodyne, rythmik). look forward to hearing reviews from seasoned audio enthusiasts who have heard the wide range of subs out there, from low end to high end (the kids who are upgrading from a best buy sub- not so much).

Rythmik makes one of the best subs for under $1k. LARGE SEALED servo controlled subwoofers are the way to go.........

Rather, I'd be very interested in your review of the Rythmik D15SE. I've also heard good things about their subs. I've set up 3 of these. Absolute best sounding sub under $1k new. Very efficient sub. Plays down to about 15-16hz with aplomb.

Bruce - I'm not sure when you're making your decision but I plan on traveling to Austin one Saturday in january to audition the Rythmik D15SE in person. I've heard a lot of good things about this sub (among several) and its within driving distance for me. I would rather have peace of mind that I've heard a sub of this size before I experiement as shipping back can be costly. If this time frame works for you, I will send you my findings. That said, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in the new subs from Emotiva. No plans at the moment to purchase and audition one but who knows. Christmas drained most of my audio funds so even the Rythmik may be a few months or so but I for sure I want to listen to this model sooner rather than later. BTW, the eD A750 is alos on my short list. UPDATE: Its on for tomorrow. I drive up to Austin at 1:30 to listen to the Rythmik D15SE. I will let you all know tomorrow early evening

will do. I will get to you after I've had a chance to listen to it. Thanks, I'm also v. interested, but the lack of a balanced input puts me off theirs. You can get XLR inputs with the Rythmiks

If you don't return, we'll be sure to alert the authorities to your last whereabouts.....A house or warehouse in Austin with lots of subwoofers in it! ;D

Well my experience from installing and tuning 3 of these is its without question the best sounding most musical sub your gonna find for under $1k. And it has incredible output as well due to a very efficient subwoofer and a larger than normal sealed enclosure. I would associate it most with Revel's B15A subwoofer, a scaled down economical version. The nice thing is Rythmik also has some great DIY kits as well featuring both their custom built Class A/B servo controlled plate amps and their Class H amps as well. Their amps are very conservatively rated and very well built. Their subs also are top notch and very efficient not needed absurd amounts of power to get good earth shaking output. Below is a pic of their 370 watt servo amp, features some good rugged Panasonic caps, good beefy toroidal PS and quality Toshiba output devices on an isolated and damped board.
