I went with Rather on the road trip to Austin for the demo, I saw a couple of prototype's A 12in version of the D15SE(downfiring) and a rythmik 15in ported sub that he's workin on. Here are sum pics. ... Thank you Pitbullmike for pictures! Actually thous subs looks better then I use to think about them I wish I could go with you guys, what could be better than audition audio gear in a designer's personal system And how was auditioning itself? Did you guys like what you've heard? Would be interesting to see your comparison with yours PC13-Ultra...

How stable were the stands for the mains (in the picture)? They looked similar in size to the 6.3s so I'm thinking they might work for those. If they seemed solid, I wonder whose stands they are?
Thanks!

I got back quite late from my trip to Austin as we did a side trip to visit oneliterpeter so I didn't get home until 9:15 and lots of work to do at the house. I will provide a more detailed sets of observations tonight (including equipment list) when I return from work but here are some of my take away points. The downfiring 15"SE is one bad ass sub. Incredibly clean, accurate and uncolored. Brian Ding really knows what he's doing with this Direct Servo thingy which he tried to explain to the two 3-year olds in the roomk (Pitbull and I) but it went right over our heads. Up close in personal, this is an absolutely gorgeous sub and the pics don't do it justice. While I loved the downfiring model, I think I will go with the front firing (F15). Although I have a dual system that does 50/50 music and movies, if I have to make a choice, I need a sub that is more suited for music, and Brian suggested the front firing (his models, anyway) are a better choice. The F15 is a very compact sealed design and will come in the piano gloss finish if I can wait until March (I can). Bottom line Rythmik subs are excellent choices for either HT or music. I promise more detailed observations and pictures soon. From my trip, I came to trust Brain Ding of Rythmik, trust that he truly knows what he's doing, trust that he's in this for the long haul, and trust that he's honest as they come. Truly an audiophile with a passion for what he does best . . . that kinda reminds me of someone . . . ;D

Sounds like you were so impressed that you have already decided to buy one . The F15 in piano black would be a sexy sub! I've decided on the F12SE, and will be ordering it here in the next few days! It's nice to read this kind of story and here what a great owner the company has. I'll be interested to read the rest of your thoughts later

Rather, did you get the chance to compare the 12 with the 15? If so, what are your thoughts? Rythmic is the only sub on my shortlist along with Emo's subs. Good choice in going with the front firing one. How many subs are you planning to buy?

Rather, looking forward to the rest of your review. So far, I really like the combo of my 6.2's and F12 (A370PEQ amp) sub. To my ears the combo blends seamlessly and the F12 is very tight for music. Can't wait to get the UMC 1 and listen to how it sounds with movies. If I can ever get a place with room for a dedicated theater/music room I will be reaching out to Brian again for a F15 or adding another F12.

The Rythmik 15" subs are just as tight as their 12" subs........just more output and extension............like i have said for awhile now, your getting a killer sub for under $1k..............regardless of which Rythmik you choose.

Ntrain42 - so if we were to up the price limit to lets say $1500 - would you then go for something else and if so, what?

At $1500 or a few hundred less your can score a mint condition used or on occasion a new Revel B15A.

For my HT, I'd either get a black F15 and have $600 to spend on Blu-rays, wine and scotch.... ...or two black F12s with the 300 amps and have $100 in pocket ..or one F12 (300 amp, AVRs do room correction well) as it makes plenty of clean bass, and have $800 in pocket ;D

Thanks for all the info guys. It sounds like you had a great time too. Hearing that the owner took the time to explain everything and steer you towards the proper choice in subs makes you feel good about purchasing from someone like that. Those pictures are awesome too. I've been trying to decide which subwoofer maker to purchase from and kicking around which of these Rythmiks to get for a month or more now. This info definitely helps me decide on both. I have been leaning toward purchasing Rythmik, but you always wonder about service and quality from a brand I know so little about, with such a small share of the market and limited feedback to give you confidence in their products. I'm sold. I'll be getting a Rythmik sub in my family room. Thanks for getting and sharing all this info with us here at the Lounge. Very cool!

Also, did you ask why the F15 in gloss black is $50 more than the D15SE? Is it strictly size, or is there some other electronic or mechanical difference I haven't seen listed? The D15SE is $999. The F15 is $1049. Oh yeah, did he mention a forum group discount?

Brian mentioned in AVS that he is all out of F12 enclosures. The only ones he has on hand are the F15 Black Matte finish.

No problem. I was ready to buy an F12 until I found out they are out for another six weeks.
