Overlord - Supposedly takes place during D-Day. Entertaining but totally unrealistic - blacks in the paratroop division, turning people into monsters in the basement of a Nazi held castle, all ridiculous. But I realize it was not a serious WWII picture but a purely fictional story. The scene of the troop carriers being blasted by Nazi artillery was pretty realistically frightening. Lots of explosions and gun shooting for the immersive sound system.

I didn't rewatch it, but I bought and gifted a copy to a friend who will really, really enjoy seeing it. It's a great movie!

Predator 2, my 10 year old had not seen it, it looked really good but the sound was subpar, it sounded like the VHS version back then, the original Predator on dvd sounds so much better, any other Predator has sounded fantastic...

Took a “high end break”, and popped in a 1958 movie 🎥 “Run Silent Run Deep”. My second favorite submarine flick...(Crimson Tide) on Blu-ray is my first. Great to kick back and see Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster, at their best!

Bill So where does “The Hunt For Red October” , “U-571” and the very recent “Hunter Killer” fit in on your sub favorites list?

Hunter killer got me back into this last week and it was just ok (more to me like a Bond movie). didn’t care much for U571. After revisiting “Deep” I would Move October a notch or 2 above it now (no pun intended). I recall when DVD was young, U571 was a go to for audio.

Wasn’t there a directors cut out there? Also a good one.

U571, The Hunt for Red October, Das Boot Forgot about Das Boot (another perspective). Wasn’t there a directors cut out there? Also a good one. I'd rank them: 1) Das Boot, 2) U-571, 3) Hunt for Red October, (didn't see that old '50's one yet though). U-571 is a bit cheesy, but still great sound! :-D

I do need to see it again....it’s been years for me almost back to when it was first released on DVD. There’s “cheese” in Run Silent Run Deep (Don Rickels) is in it) but still a decent flick. Torpedo Trivia: Robert Wise produced it, so he’s firing torpedos in 1958, and Klingon torpedos in 1979’s Star Trek The Motion Picture! There are a few more sub. flicks we left out including one with Robert Mitchum In 1957 playing cat and mouse with a German Uboat. Bill

The audio and video in this movie are top-notch in Dolby Atmos/Vision. Having said that, the acting is a bit weak and the story line is even worse. I've honestly tried to like the DC comics movies and to date the only worthy one is Wonder Woman. Quite relieved I didn't buy this and ended up renting it from RedBox.

Watched it last night....struggled to stay awake. Somehow, my thoughts turned to The Matrix. (Today) Was just recalling seeing it in the theater the first time, and for the first hour or so, NOBODY could figure out what was going on. The couple we went with didn’t like the film (or get it) but that first of the three captured something special that just doesn’t happen often enough in film. Bill
