I heard the Definative Technology Supercube II the other day and am wondering if I can get a sub used or new that will give me that level of SPL and output? I can pick one up in store or on audiogon for $600 or so. I'm looking for a sub like this for HT use.

For $600 you can do alot better than an 8" passive radiator design..........is $600 what you have for budget or just throwing out a pirce?

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Sounds more like a convenience store than a gov't agency!

I don't know. I like my supercubeII quite a bit. Loud and crisp in my 15 x 20 living room.
Music and HT are great. I'm actually thinking about another one.

If you already got one and you like it, thats all that matters, and I 100% agree on getting another one if you need or want a bit more output with less distortion. Passive radiator designs benefit ALOT when you can drop the gains and run em at lower power levels. I have always noticed that radiator designs can get muddy when driven hard. So if you like it now, see how much better it sounds with another one added in, Ill bet you will be very surprised with the results with the addition of a second unit.

I use to have a Supercube 1 and It was damn awesome for HT. Music on the other hand wasn't my cup of tea. I ended up selling it for $600 which was a huge loss since it was only a few months old. Dual Supercubes would sound pretty sweet im sure. Those subs can shake the foundation with ease
